Home, Alone.
"I'm not going."
Peter's sentence made the smile on the face of the three boys disappear.
Sam Alexander, Luke Cage and Daniel Rand were talking about the party that is going to happen tomorrow. All of the Midtown High students were invited. The three of them decided to were excited. However when they asked Peter Parker to go, they got extremely disappointed.
"What?! Why not?" Sam asked with a confused expression on his face.
"Tomorrow, I will take some time off, do things I like to do, it's hard to get some free time. Plus, I am Peter Parker. Since when does the "below zero in popularity" Peter Parker goes to parties?"
Danny said one of his famous fortune cookie sayings.
"Come on, dude! It will be fun!" Luke tried to change Peter's mind.
"I said no. I'll have a lot a fun in home."
"Doing what?" Sam was curious. What could be more fun than a party?
"The things that I do when I have free time. Like watching science-fiction movies and science documentaries, read comics, that kind of stuff."
"Oh yeah, this is totally fun." Sam ironically said. "Sometimes I forget you are such a nerd."
"Hey!"
"No wonder your last kiss was 4 years ago with Mary Jane. And that lead nowhere." Sam finished, grinning.
"HEY!"
-/-
"I'm not going."
Mary Jane Watson's smile faded. Although she was kind of expecting this answer from the girl. She knew that Ava Ayala wasn't a very sociable person.
"Come on, Ava! Don't be boring!"
"I'm not being boring! I just don't want to go."
"Please, please, please!"
"I have to do my homework."
"You already used this excuse the last time. It won't work this time."
"It is the thruth."
"Why are you are so anti-social?"
"I am not."
"Oh yeah? Besides me, Peter, Sam, Luke and Danny, who else is your friend?"
"Uh..."
"No wonder you haven't kissed anyone yet."
"HEY!"
-/-
Sam was walking in circles around the living room. He looked at the clock. 7:30 pm. One hour left. He was so anxious that he had taken a shower, changed his clothes, brushed his teeth and set everything up three hours before the party.
"Relax, friend." Danny said. He was still meditating, sitting on the ground with his legs crossed and wasn't ready yet.
"Yeah. Chill, dude." Luke added. He was sitting on the chair and watching an american football game on the television. He finished changing a couple of minutes ago.
"I am relaxed." Sam replied, still walking in circles impaciently.
Sam was not relaxed. He was nervous. He was going to finally make a move on his relationship with Mary Jane. He was hoping that he didn't get friendzoned.
"You better be right, Parker." Sam said.
Peter was lying on the couch with eyes closed, his hands behind his head and a grin spread on his face. Sam spent the entire day asking about Mary Jane's likes and dislikes.
"For the last time, Sam, I am sure of it. I know Mary Jane since I was a child." Peter replied.
Sam sighed and continued to walk in circles. Then he remembered he had to get something in the basement and quickly exited the living room.
Danny stood up from the ground and went upstairs to get ready.
After a while, Luke spoke up. "So... Peter..."
"What?" Peter replied, still on the same position.
"Are you going to make a move on Ava tonight?" Luke asked inclining his body foward, eager to know the answer.
Peter was caught by surprise. He went in a coughing fit and got out of his lying position to sit on the couch. After a few seconds he cleaned his throat.
"U-Uh... W-What?" Peter stutered.
"You have a secret crush on Ava, don't you?" Luke asked.
It was true, he had a crush on Ava. But it wasn't a small crush. No, no, no. It was a BIG crush.
When Peter met Ava it wasn't a big deal. She is very smart and extremely beautiful, but he didn't had a crush on her. After Taskmaster attacked the school, his feelings for her started to grow. They became more and more closer. But it was just friendship, or at least is what he thinks.
Then, Kraven attacked. This event changed completely his perception about Ava. He could relate to her after he found out about her past, after all, he suffered the same thing she did.
But the difference between them is that he had people that loved him, he had friends, he had family. She did not. She put all of her effort and time in training. She became disciplined, like a soldier, but also became cold and distant.
After she opened up to him and after he told her the story behind Spider-Man, the story of how his Uncle Ben died, he got to know the other side of Ava Ayala... her "sweet" side. She started to smile and laugh more and she would even, sometimes, make a joke. She became less cold and serious. She even started to hangout more with Mary Jane.
When was his time to clean the house or wash the dishes she would help him and when was her turn, he would help her. Sometimes they would study and do the homework together.
He likes to spend time with her, doing something or just talking. He likes to joke around her just to see her smile, the smile that blinded him. He loves her long brown hair that always smelled good. He loves her light brown skin that make his hair stand up when she touches him. He loved her enchanting brown eyes that always get him distracted.
He just loves h... WAIT! Is he really going this far? No, no, no, no, no. She is his teammate, but above all, she is one of his closest friends. Does he really want to risk his relation with Ava? What if she doesn't like him? That could ruin everything.
He DOES NOT want to lose her.
"I-I don't know what you are t-talking about." Peter tried to defend himself.
"Come on, Parker. You have a crush on the girl. Confess!"
"I...uh...ehh..." Peter didn't knew what to say. He lowered his head in defeat.
"I knew it!"
"Do the others know about it?"
"I'm not sure. I noticed how you and Ava act around each other, I even noticed you two blushing sometimes. But I didn't tell anyone. I wanted to talk to you about it first. And see if you are okay with me telling them."
"Please, don't tell anyone."
"Okay."
"Thanks, man." Peter relaxed a bit. He leaned back in the couch and let out a relief sigh.
"Are you going to make a move?"
"I don't know... I mean... I really like her. But I don't know if she likes me back. What if I ruin our friendship. I don't want to lose her."
"Peter." Luke stood up from the chair and walked towards Peter. He put his hand in the distressed teen's shoulder. "I know that Ava means a lot to you. But you have to let out your feelings for her. If there is one thing that I learned from the loss of my parents is that you should ever say what you feel, before it's too late. There is a lot of things that I wished to say to my parents but I didn't. And I regret it every single day. Your aunt is on a trip and we are going to a party, only coming back extremely late. You have a golden opportunity, I sugest you to take it."
Luke then started to go upstairs.
"Hey, Luke." Peter said.
Luke turned to face Peter.
"Thank you. Again." Peter continued.
"Any time." Luke then went upstairs.

"Do you think I look beautiful?" Mary Jane asked Ava while checking herself on the mirror.
"You always look beautiful Mary Jane." Ava said while resting her head on her hand. A bored expression on her face
Mary Jane made Ava go to her house so Ava can see if her clothes looked good.
Ava was seeing Mary Jane change clothes and check herself in the mirror for the past 5 hours. In 5 hours Ava could finish her entire homework... FIVE TIMES. She liked Mary Jane, she was her only female friend, but if she have to take one more hour of this she will start banging her head on the wall. She glanced at the clock on Mary Jane's counter. 7:45 pm. Great. She will not get to the point of hitting her head on the wall.
"Ah, miss Ayala, you flatter me."
"Will this take much longer? I really need to do my homework."
"Woah. Calm down. You say this like you are going to fail at school if you don't do it now."
"It's just a party, I don't see why you need to do this. I mean, you normally take five minutes to get ready to everything."
"This is a special case."
"What makes it so special this time?"
Mary Jane smirked.
"Sam Alexander."
Ava looked at Mary Jane with a puzzled look. Then she started to laugh.
"What is so funny?" Mary Jane asked doing her best to keep a serious expression. She still didn't know how Ava could maintain a serious face so easily.
"You have a thing for Sam?"
"I do." Mary Jane blushed, the red on her face matching her hair. "Do you know if he likes me too?"
"Of course he likes you. He drools when he sees you."
"Then I'll make him drool even more with these clothes."
"You might need a bucket. And towels."
The two girls laughed. Mary Jane still coudn't believe that Ava Ayala was making jokes. She remember Ava being cold and reserved, hardly laughing at something. Yet here she was, smiling and laughing with doesn't know what changed her so much. She thinks it's because of Peter, he have his way of making people happy. But Mary Jane wasn't complaining. She actually like this version of Ava.
"So... Ava..."
"What?"
"Are you finally going to get your fist kiss tonight? With Peter? You and him are going to be alone in his house."
It was Ava's time to blush. She tucked her hair behind her ear while looking down.
"..."
"I know you have a crush on Peter."
Yes, Ava had a crush on Peter.
When Ava met Peter she actually had a crush on Danny. It was a small crush anyway, nothing to work up, but it was there. Ava considered Peter an unprofessional dork, who, according to her, could not take anything seriously. After Taskmaster attacked the school, she realized how he could use his intelligence to defeat the enemy. Her respect for him increased and the more the time passed, more her feelings for him started to grow.
She saw that despite being childish most of the time, he can be mature, stupid, but mature, when he decided to face the Green Goblin alone. She saw how brave and selfless he is when he took everybody out of the sinking S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. She saw how good he is when he offered shelter to his team on his aunt's house.
At that point Ava had a huge crush on him. Even the "Tiger Side" of her liked Peter. When she got "wild" she destroyed Peter's bed because she was... frustrated... and his bed had his scent all over it.
When she got the opportunity of revenge on the murderer of her father, Peter stopped her from making the worst mistake of her life. Peter trusted her enough to tell the story about his uncle's death. Nobody else on the team knew that. They still don't know yet.
They got even closer after that. When she had patrols, sometimes he would go with her, he even helped her get quickly to where crimes were happening by web-slinging. She would never admit it, but she actually liked web-slinging with him, when she is wrapped around his back, when she is close to him.
She loves his smile when he made jokes or teases her and can't help but smile too. She loves his cute brown hair that was always messy. She loves his wonderful blue eyes that always seemed to hypnotize her. She loves his scent that seemed to pull her closer to him and made her purr.
She loves h... WAIT. Wasn't she going too far? Peter is her team leader, but most importantly, he was her best friend. Did she wanted to lose her best friend? The person that she was the most close? What if he doesn't even like her.
She DOES NOT want to lose him.
"I don't know what are you talking about." Ava tried to defend herself.
"Don't try to fool me Ava."
Mary Jane could not be fooled. Ava thinks she should become a detective. There wouldn't be enough prisions in the world.
Ava was blushing with so intensity that would put extremely heated metals to shame. She knew she couldn't lie to Mary Jane.
Ava sighed in defeat. "Yes, I have a crush on Peter."
"Will you try to get closer to him tonight?"
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"He is my best friend. I can not risk losing him. He is too important to me."
Mary Jane walked towards Ava and sat on the bed, next to her. She put both hands on the Latina's shoulders and looked straight into her eyes.
Ava felt that Mary Jane's green orbs were staring directly into her soul.
"Ava... when we were twelve, Peter and I decided to "get serious". I was nervous when we were going to kiss. He was my best friend. What was going to happen if we didn't really liked each other that way? Would our friendship be ruined?... So we kissed. And what I was fearing was coming true. We didn't like each other in a romantic way. I was scared that he woud abandon me. But he didn't. He just agreed with me that he didn't felt that way. And we're still great friends. I don't like him in the romantic way, he is like my brother. Peter is a great person with a huge heart and you are a very nice girl, Ava. I'm sure he likes you. And if he doesn't there is no problem of your friendship with him ending. Plus, you are very beautiful and even smarter. If Peter didn't fell for you, I don't think he will fall for somebody, ever."
Ava smiled. She felt confident. Mary Jane could make her feel this way. She was direct and sincere. Ava could trust her.
"Thank you, Mary Jane."
Mary Jane stood up.
"You are welcome, Ava. Now, moving on to more important things... does this dress looks good in me." Mary Jane said holding a red dress in front of her.
Ava playfully rolled her eyes.
-/-
Sam, Luke and Danny were standing outside Mary Jane's house. They agreed to go together to the party.
Ava opened the door while Mary Jane finished getting ready.
"Hey, guys."
"Hey, Ava." All of them said in union.
"Come in, Mary Jane is almost ready."
The three boys entered the house and waited on the living room, all of them were stand up.
"Sam, you are sweating." Ava commented. Even she had to admit that he was stylish today.
"Uh? Oh. Yeah. Umm."
Sam wiped the sweat on his face.
Luke, Danny and Ava were all holding a laugh.
After a couple of minutes, Mary Jane walked down the stairs. She was wearing a red dress that matched with her hair's color. She had used make-up to highlight her lips and her eyes. Even Ava was stunned.
Luke and Danny were taken back. They were thinking about how lucky Sam was.
Sam just stood there, dumbfounded. Was he dreaming? Was he dead and went to heaven?
Danny waved his hand in front of Sam while Luke closed Sam's mouth so that his jaw didn't fall.
"Hey, boys." Mary Jane said with a smile.
"Hey, Mary Jane." Luke and Danny said together.
"Hey, Sam." Mary Jane said with her most seductive voice.
Sam looked like was going to faint.
"...H-Hey... M-Mary Jane." Sam just reached a new level of nervousness.
Ava had to resist the urge to take a picture of Sam's face. She started heading to the door, but Luke stopped her. He leaned in her ear and whispered to her.
"Go get him, Tiger!"
Ava payed attention to the "him" that Luke said. Him? Who? Ava was confused. But she had an idea of who he was talking about.
"What was that about?" Danny asked Luke.
"Nothing." Luke lied. He didn't liked to lie to his best friend, but he woudn't let Peter down. "But I have the feeling that Sam and Mary Jane aren't going to be the only love birds tonight."
-/-
"Hey, Ava."
Ava had just entered the Parker's residence when she saw Peter lying on the couch, waving at her with a smile. It looked like Peter had just got out of the shower. His hair was still wet and he was wearing his pajamas. A white tank top and blue shorts .
"Hey, Peter."
Ava walked into the living room and sat on the chair.
"How was your trip to Mary Jane's house. Did you find many adventures over there?"
Ava chuckled.
"It was okay. She made me look... every... single... one... of her best clothes. But in the end was worth."
"At least you didn't had to answer Sam something about Mary Jane every fifteen seconds. My throat hurts."
"So, Sam is going to make a move..."
"Does Mary Jane know that he have a crush on her?"
"A crush? Is likely that Sam is going to ask Mary Jane in wedding right at the beggining of the party."
They laughed.
"Yeah, that's what is probably going to happen."
"And Mary Jane will accept."
"Really?"
"Yeah. She is also making a move."
"Well, good luck to them. Don't say this to anybody, but Sam is actually a nice guy, depite his major screw-ups. I'm happy that Mary Jane got a guy like him."
"And Mary Jane is an incredible girl. They are very lucky to have each other. To have somebody that feel the same as you do."
"Yeah..."
"Uh-huh..."
They found themselves looking at each other for a long period of time. They were hypnotized by each other. Why coudn't they look away? No, the real question was "Did they wanted to look away?".
"..."
"..."
They realized what they were doing and looked away, both with cheeks burning.
"So..." Peter tried to broke the awkward silence that fell in the living room.
"So..."
"Ummm... Do you want to watch movies with me?" Peter sat up on the couch, offering a spot to the Hispanic girl sit.
She almost said yes. She wanted to stay there with him. But she remembered that it was 8:20 pm and she didn't do her homework yet. She needed to finish it.
"No... I have to finish my homework." Ava said.
"Oh...okay...yeah..." Peter replied. He was a little bit disappointed.
Ava got up from the chair and started to go upstairs. Then an idea came on her head. She just hoped that she wouldn't make it awkward.
"But..." She started to say, turning to him. "I woundn't mind company while I make it."
Peter's face lighted up. He smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Alright then. No time to waste."
He got up from the couch and followed Ava to her room. He entered on her room and she signed to him to lay on the bed. She grabbed her textbooks and laid on the bed beside Peter. Peter watched her open her textbooks, he was marveled with the sight of her. He noticed that their sides were touching. And that felt good.
Ava noticed that Peter was staring at her. She started to blush... again.
"Peter? Are you okay?"
"Hmm? Oh... y-yeah... I-I'm fine."
Ava smiled at him.
"Okay, let's get started."
-/-
"Well, that was quick." Peter said.
"Yeah. I tought it would take longer." Ava replied.
"So... what do we do now?"
"I don't know. I was planning to read a book after I got my homework done."
"Are you still reading romance books?"
"Yes, I am... But now, I don't know what to do. Is the movie night still up?"
Peter smiled. "Of course."
"Then it's set. I will take a shower while you prepare the popcorn. I will choose the movie.
They went to the room's door and she watched as Peter crossed the hallway and went downstairs. A smirk formed on her lips.
She went to the bathroom and took a shower. Then she went back on her room and changed to her pajamas. A pink tank top and dark gray pants.
She made her way downstairs and went to the small collection of DVD's on the shelf of the living room.
"Alright, Ava. That's it. Tonight you make a move. Pick a romance movie and just follow the course of the things." Ava tought to herself.
She was very disappointed when she only found science-fiction movies and science documentaries. Well, she would have to work her way then. She decided to go with Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. She remembered that Peter got shocked that she never watched this movie.
"Well, this will have to do it." She tought to herself while grabbing the DVD and putting on the Player.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Peter was finishing to do the popcorn.
"Now I regret not having bought a romance movie..." Peter sighed. " Ah, it doesn't matter. Tonight is the night. I just hope everything goes good." He tought to himself.
The popcorn was ready. He put the it in a bowl and went to the living room.
Ava was sitting on the couch, waiting for him. She patted the place next to her on the couch and he sat down.
"Which movie did you pick?" Peter asked Ava.
"Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope." She answered.
"So, you are finally going to watch it."
He placed the bowl of popcorn between them.
She smiled and pressed play. Their hearts were racing on their chests. It was time. This night would probably change their lives. And they were ready.
-/-
The movie was on the begining, but the popcorn was almost over. The less popcorn had in the bowl, the more their hands touched. He didn't knew why, but these small touches sent shivers down his spine. It also made a blush crept up in her cheeks.
They had to scan the bowl with their hands, touching the bottom of it to find the few remaining popcorns. When they realized that weren't more popcorns left, their hands touched again.
Ava was the first to make a move on that night. She decided to, instead of retracting her hand, hold his hand. She did it and her cheeks started to burn.
Peter noticed that she held his hands and brought his gaze to her. He noticed the red in her cheeks and smiled, deciding to get along with it. It's not like he wasn't enjoying anyway.
-/-
Half of the movie had already passed.
The popcorn bowl was resting in the small table of the living room.
Peter and Ava were still holding hands, their fingers were interlaced, resting in the top of their touching thighs.
Ava would sometimes glance at Peter, only to him glance back at her. Their hearts started to beat faster everytime their eyes met. He gently squeezed her hand and she smiled.
Ava wasn't even paying attention to the movie. She was trying her best to not purr. It was getting harder and harder each second. Just a hold of hands with Peter was enough to make her go crazy. Hell, even his scent already did that all the times.
Peter Parker, the nerd, couldn't pay attention to a science-fiction movie. This had never happened before. He only could pay attention to the beautiful girl sitting right next to him. That was all he cared about in that moment. He had watched this movie at least ten times anyway.
-/-
The movie was in the middle of the ending half.
Peter didn't made a move yet. He was too nervous. He was just sitting there, like a statue.
Ava was starting to rethink about telling her feelings to him. But she wasn't going to give up so easily, she was the stubborn Ava Ayala after all. She rested her head on his shoulder while still holding hands with him.
This move took Peter by surprise, but he enjoyed this very much. He knew he had to do something.
He took his hand off of Ava's hand.
She instantly regretted lying her head on his shoulder. Peter didn't liked her. She made a mistake. What was she thinking? Did she actually tought he liked her? She felt stupid and pathetic. Peter was her friend, nothing else.
She was about to take her head of his shoulder.
In a moviment that surprised her (and even Peter himself), Peter put his hand, which was previously locked with hers, on her shoulder and pulled her closer to him. He rested his head on the top of her head.
Maybe Ava was wrong. Maybe he did liked her.
-/-
The movie was almost ending.
Peter had a gorgeous girl resting her head on his chest. He didn't know what posessed him, but he ran his hand through her smooth hair. He couldn't resist the urge to do that. Why was he holding back anyway? Wasn't this supposed to be "the night"?
It was being hard enough for her to contain herself from purring. His scent, his body, his heat, it was getting extremely difficult to control her instincts.
Then, he ran his hand through her hair. That was it. She coudn't hold started to purr. Loudly. It was almost muffling the sound of the movie. She moved back to the couch, taking her head off Peter's chest.
She noticed that Peter was starring at her. She was so embarassed at that moment. Her cheeks started to get redder every second. She was blushing like she never was before. She looked at the ground, trying to avoid his gaze.
Peter saw the beautiful girl purring and blushing, shyly looking away.
It was the cutest thing he had ever seen.
He smiled and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. He put his arm around her and brought her closer to him again.
-/-
The movie ended.
Silence fell in the living room.
They noticed how they were. Ava was with her head on Peter's chest with both hands serving as pillows and both legs retracted on the couch. Peter had his arm around Ava and legs spread on the floor.
She hesitantly sat on the couch and faced Peter. She had to tell him how she felt. She had to do it now.
Ava looked at his eyes to tell him.
Peter looked at her eyes.
They locked their gazes on each other for a long time. They were mesmerized.
Ava had never seen something as beautiful as his blue eyes.
Peter had never seen something as lovely as her brown eyes.
"Peter... I have to tell you something." This was going to be hard. "When I first met you, I thought you were a unprofessional dork. You still are sometimes." She chuckled. "But you grew on me on a way that I never felt before. When Taskmaster attacked... When you sheltered us... When you saved me from getting lost when Kraven attacked. All these times proved how much of an incredible guy you are. Selfless, brave, smart and... handsome. I have this feelings for you for some time now. I wanted to let you know because I can't hold them back anymore. The thruth is... I like you, Peter."
Peter stood there. He was in shock. His brain wasn't functioning properly.
"Uhhh... I... ehh...I... ugh...umm... I-I uh..." He tried to say something but no words were forming in his brain. There was just words scattered through his mind. He couldn't say anything. He froze.
"Wow. Thank you for the informative reply, Parker." Ava chuckled. "If you don't like me this way, there is no problem."
"No... no... I... uhh..." He grabbed both of her hands. He started to say as he looked on their hands. "When I first met you... I didn't thought much about you. I mean, you were serious and cold most of the time... but I got to know you better. This changed my view about you. If I can be more mature or more serious or more responsible it's because of you Ava. You changed me into a better leader. Into a better person. My feelings for you have been growing since the Taskmaster thing, on the school. After you told me about your father, how you lost him... I could relate to you. I relate to you more than I do with the rest of the team. Then, there is the fact that you are gorgeous and very smart. I even considered you "way out of my league". To me there was no chance that a amazing girl like you would want to be with a guy like me. But, here you are... I trust you and I can always rely on you. I can never put my true feelings for you in words because I'm bad at it, but..." He looked up into her eyes and lightly squeezed her hands. "I like you too, Ava."
He smiled to her. She smiled back. Their eyes were locked with each other. They woudn't look away this time. They would face it. Together.
They felt like they were being pulled closer. Their heads started to move foward. It was now. They knew it. They couldn't stop it. They didn't want to stop. Their hearts felt like were busting out of their ribcages.
Their noses touched.
They closed their eyes.
Their lips were milimeters apart.
They finally kissed. It was soft at the beggining. But it grew deeper as they explored each others mouths. Ava put her hand at the back of Peter's head and brought him closer. Their bodies were pushing against each other. It felt good. And they woudn't be stopping anytime soon.
Ava's first kiss.
Peter's most passionte kiss.
They felt relief, happiness, joy.
But most importantly, love. They just didn't know that... yet.
-/-
The three boys entered the house. They just got out of the party.
Sam had red lipstick all over his mouth.
Luke and Danny were tired.
"Man, this party wore me out." Luke said as he took off his shoes.
"Indeed. I am very tired." Danny added.
They were heading upstairs when they heard a weird and loud sound coming from the living room. Luke turned on the lightswitch to see from where the sound was coming from.
They were surprised by the sight on the couch. Well, Danny and Sam were. Luke was kind of expecting it.
Peter and Ava were sleeping at the couch together. Their arms around each other, looking like a hug. Ava's forehead was pressed against Peter's forehead. Their noses were touching. Their lips were dangerously close. Ava was purring, just like a cat.
This made them even more surprised.
They stood there with their mouths hung open for a couple of seconds.
The team didn't know she could do that.
Sam smiled as he saw a opportunity. He grabbed his phone and recorded a video of the young couple on the couch. He grinned. This was the perfect blackmail.
