Summary: Erik wakes after he runs away, and finds that he is older, and has been reliving his life. Christine is already dead. What will Erik do?
Erik wakes to find an elderly, bearded man peering anxiously down at him.
"Come," the man says.'
Erik hestitantly straightens up. He doesn't remember who the man is or why he came to this peculiar room.
"It's alright," soothed the man. He turns to a strange-looking bird. "Fetch me McGonagall, Fawkes."
Erik grasped this moment to speak. "Who are you?"
The elder man sighed. "Ah, I feared you wouldn't remember," was all he said.
At that moment, a middle-aged-looking, blonde woman rushed into the room. "Professor Dumbledore! You would never send Fawkes to me unless it's an emergency!"
The man whose name was Dumbledore spoke quite calmly in reply, "Minerva, do you reckon I should show this man the memories of Professor Snape?"
Understanding dawned Minerva McGonagall's eyes. "H-has he been through similar obstacles?"
"Yes," said Dumbledore sadly.
"Then I reckon you should," called the blonde over her shoulder as she disappeared out the door.
Erik watched wearily as Dumbledore pulled out a strange stone basin and a vial with a silvery, swirling, substance.
Then, without explaining his actions, Dumbledore set the basin down on his desk, pulled out a- can it be?- wand, and emptied the vial into the stone basin.
Erik frowned when Dumbledore beckoned him to come closer, but he did as he was told.
"Follow me," said the older man, submerging his head in the swirls. Erik did the same, adjusting his mask.
Although Erik's feet were still on the cold floor of the office, his eyes saw completely different scenes as they shifted.
"Mudblood, Lily! I don't need help from your filthy kind!"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry!"
"Save your breath."
"He think it means her! Keep her safe! Please!"
"She and James put their faith in the wrong person."
"The boy survives! He has her eyes!"
"DON'T! Gone, dead..."
"Don't tell me you've grown to care for the boy."
"For him? EXPECTO PATRONUM!" A silver doe burst from his wand.
"After all this time?"
"Always..."
*Later*
"You're not the only man who has suffered a loss of a loved one, Erik," said Dumbledore, tears filling his eyes. "But you need to learn, that life goes on. You need to remember that when you die, Christine will unite with you."
These were the last words Erik heard before he saw a flash and was back in Paris again as if nothing peculiar ha happened.
A/N: Well? Doesn't that little button down there look so inviting?
