But, It Was Real (Annabeth's POV)

The class was horrendous. Mr. Klents was like a broken lawnmower, you only noticed the noise when he stopped.

Annabeth sat in the back, which may seem uncharacteristic, but mind you, she already knows all that he is teaching. It's only Calculus.

She isn't a fan of school and only manages because Percy goes as well. They live in a cramped apartment right off campus because they both have severe nightmares. Who wouldn't? When they say that they've been to hell and back, you better believe it. It doesn't hurt that they are so in love that they would turn down immortality for the other. True story.

It's been particularly bad because it is around the time Luke was killed. Nightmares have taken every recent night from the poor girl and it shows. She tries to hide it, but the bags under her eyes and unusual slow stepped shuffle tell a different story. Slouched already in her seat, Annabeth starts to make those blinks extra-long.

She kept telling herself that it was only for a minute, but the fatigue catches up with her and soon enough she is sound asleep.

Or as much as she can be. "No… no. Please, no!" Her cries only get louder, and people turn to stare even in the expansive lecture hall.

She sits upright in her chair but is not seeing anything. "You can't take him! I'll do anything!" Mutters fall across the room and the teacher stops his lecture.

"What is the meaning of this, Miss Chase?"

"Percy! Don't do it! They will kill you! Percy," she cries. When Mr. Klents tries to touch her arm, she jumps up into a fighting stance. Pulling a blade, sheathed and strapped to her side the entire time, she presses it to his throat with a scary amount of ease and practice.

"She's sleepwalking," a student warns, "or something?" The class speculates how you are never supposed to wake someone sleepwalking, but they aren't usually posing a lethal threat.

Still, the professor begs her, "Annabeth, right? Wake up, you are right here, safe."

"But, they are trying to kill him!"

"Him, who? Sweetheart," he asks.

A voice projecting from the door turns heads, "She's talking about me." Percy sprints up the stairs and stops in front of his girlfriend. Mr. Klents demands that he gets back for his own safety, but the girl who notified Percy coughs. Annabeth swivels to find the voice and Mr. Klents leaps away from her at the chance.

"He's the only one who can talk her down. Trust me," she says.

"Hey, babe," Percy murmurs.

"Percy?" she seems to relax for a moment, but then stiffens, "They are coming!"

"Who, babe, the Minotaur? Come on, I took one of 'em before even coming to camp. Remember that? You healed me."

"P-Percy? I can never escape-" He takes the moment to hit the knife from her grasp and hold her tightly in his own.

"I know, Wise-Girl, I know. We escaped. You are here, with me. It's me, Percy. Wake up, babe, we'll get you some proper sleep back at home. I have blue cookies."

When you think about it, it is sort of freaky when someone's eyes are open, but you know they aren't seeing you. Annabeth blinks several times and sputters while getting her bearings.

"What happened, Percy?" she says with tears running down her face.

"Shh, you just had a nightmare, but it isn't real. You are here with me, okay? We are going to be okay."

The class starts clapping and going back to what they were doing and no one but Percy hears the daughter of Athena whisper, "But, it was real, Percy. It was so horrifically real."
