Prompt: Nightmare

It had been years since she'd had one this bad. During the trial, before the trial, from the moment she heard about the arrest she'd gotten them again. They woke her at all hours of the night, robbing her of much needed sleep,

Since the trial ended, though, she hadn't had even one.

But the nightmares were back tonight, and they were worse then ever, bright, almost technicolor and when she woke up she was screaming, her whole body shaking.

"No, no, no, no," she said repeatedly as she shook, "Danny, Dan."

"I'm right here, baby," he said, his body pressing against hers, the heat of his skin warming her freezing body, "Its okay, sweetheart, you're okay now."

"Blood, blood everywhere, there's so much blood and…and he'd going to find me…he's going to…."

"No, he's in prison, Linds, he's not going to hurt anyone ever again."

"But what if…."

"I'd never let him hurt you, baby, never, there you go, that's better," he said as she began to breathe normally again.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

She arched her back, her lips sliding along his, "I love you, I love you."

"I love you too," he whispered as he kissed her more firmly, "I love you so much Lindsay. I never want you to be afraid, not of that bastard, not of anything. I'll always be here. You're never going to be alone again."

She let out a happy gasp as she curled up in his lap, her mouth pressing against his.

The love she felt inside, the warmth his words gave her erased all her fears.

Her nightmare was over.
