Chapter 1

Have you ever had a secret? One no one could know? Your very life outcome depends on who knows and who doesn't? Well, my best friend, my sister, and I know what it's like. My sister and I are half vampire. Our mother, Shayna, has the ability to shift from vampire to human. We don't completely understand how anyone could have this power. Our mother works for the Volturi, 'Vampire Royalty', and isn't home very often. In fact, she's kind of related to them. Aro, Marcus, and Caius are her adoptive brothers. It also turns out that Uncle Aro has this weird obsession with unusual powers, so he forces our mother to be a lover to Alec to create more powerful offspring. Uncle Aro doesn't know about us. Our mother knew that if he found out, he would want us.

A few weeks ago, our mother gave guardianship of us to our best friend, Luna. She signed the deed of the house over to Luna until we turn eighteen. She also gave us bank accounts with enough money in them to live comfortably for a few years. The Volturi were growing suspicious of who our mother was visiting when she was here, so she felt we'd be safer without a tie to her. We were exploring the parts of the house we were never allowed in before, when we found some old boxes in a back room. While looking through them, we found our birth certificates hidden in a lockbox. Our mother never talked about our father, and here we have his full name. We could meet him! Our father is a man named Joshua Uley. We found out that he is a Native America living on the Quileute reservation in Washington called La Push. After many should we/should we nots, Luna put her foot down and told us we had to meet him. We packed up everything we could in our three tiny cars and set out.

"Lizzy, calm down! I don't know why Mom wouldn't tell us who our father was." I said trying to console my twin; she's still ranting after two states.

"Caitee, Lizzy, you both need to stop fighting and get off the phone. We're here!" Luna demanded, then disconnected herself. Lizzy and I both disconnected as we read a sign that said: Welcome to La Push. We turn onto a dirt road, following our GPS. The GPS led us to a small red cabin with an ancient looking red truck parked outside. I stepped out of my car, a green Mustang, as a women stepped outside the door. She was petite, with mahogany hair and golden eyes. She had to be a Cullen, an animal drinker. A small girl walked out close behind her. She had bronze hair, like our mom's, and chocolate brown eyes. From the scent and her heartbeat, she must be a hybrid too. The little girl pulled her mom's face down to her level and put her hand on the woman's cheek.

"Your right, their smells and their heartbeats, they're like you Nessie." The women said to the little girl, 'Nessie'. Are they communicating through touch? Suddenly, a burly man in a wheelchair and a drop dead gorgeous boy stepped out of the door, both looking confused. Lizzy then stepped out of her orange Camaro and started walking up to them, so I slowly followed her, and Luna followed behind me. My eyes moved to the ground, my shyness taking over.

"Hello, my name is Elizabeth Masen, and this is my twin sister Cathrynn Masen. This is our best friend and guardian, Luna Star. We are here to see Joshua Uley, is he home?" Lizzy explained.

"Damn, Uley's always a player," The man in the wheelchair mumbled to himself, "No he's not, but his son Sam is. We'll call Sam to come back."

"So, what do you want with the Uleys anyway?" The gorgeous boy asked.

"Uhm we... uhhhh... He's uh...," I stuttered, and I glance up at the boy. His eyes catch mine and my breath falters, the tips of my fingers and toes tingle with electricity. I realized my ears had stopped working when Lizzy's voice suddenly comes back to me.

"...ability to shift back and forth between vampire and human for short periods of time, but when she became pregnant, she was forced human until our birth." Lizzy explained, apparently not having that much trouble telling our story to complete strangers.

Suddenly, the women walks over to the boy and slaps him. For some reason, I suddenly feel furious, my hands are slightly shaking, and I swear my body temperature goes up a few degrees. I take a deep breath and try to center myself, there's no reason I should get mad. I just met this guy, I don't even know his name, why should I feel protective of him. I look back down and catch the old man's eyes, he has a knowing look. Strange.

"Well, I'm Bella, and this is my daughter Renesmee." The woman introduces. She points to the man in the wheelchair and Mr. gorgeous. "This is Billy Black, and his son Jacob." She invited us inside to wait for Sam.

While Billy called Sam; we waited in the Livingroom. Jacob sat across the room from me, staring intently. Luna nudged me and gave me the 'there's something between you' look, her eyes orange with curiosity. Lizzy was giving me a similar look. I blushed deeply at their realization and my embarrassment, but couldn't stop glancing at him.

Bella called Jacob into the kitchen to help prepare drinks. Obviously not to be heard, Bella started talking to Jacob. My ears picked up on their conversation, however, meaning Lizzy did too.

"Jacob, did you imprint on that girl?!"

"Yeah, I did. It's amazing. Cathrynne is so amazing. I think she might be half werewolf."

"Is that even possible?"

"It must be, because I'm 99 percent sure she's part werewolf. Which means her sister must be too. That's probably why they're here."

"Nessie, go talk to our guests."

Nessie walks into the room and sees our faces. She touches Lizzy's face.

"I don't know Renesmee." Lizzy stated. That confirms my thoughts earlier on communication. Renesmee then puts her hand on my face and I see a big dog, and then my sister and I. It seemed to ask if we were werewolves, and even though the pictures didn't completely make sense, I automatically understood what they meant.

"I'm not sure, Renesmee. We'll have to ask Sam." I replied. Bella then walks in with glasses of iced tea and sets it on the coffee table in front of us. With my control over water, I raise a drop of iced tea to my mouth without touching the glass. Lizzy took a sip of her tea, muttering 'show off' under her breath, making Renesmee and Bella laugh.

After minutes of waiting, the front door slams shut, causing Lizzy to jump. A stoic man that looked similar to Jacob, but much older and with a bitter look on his face, entered the small Livingroom.

"Are these the girls you mentioned?" Sam asked Billy, who had just rolled into the room.

"Yeah, these are the girls who I was talking about," Billy answers. Lizzy then stands up to introduce herself.

"Hello, I am Elizabeth Masen, and this here is my twin sister Cathrynne Masen. If you are Joshua Uley's son, than that must make you our brother." Lizzy said smiling.

"We'll see." he replied, glaring intently. Lizzy's smile vanished at the harsh words, "Let's go." He walked out, intending for us to follow him. Us three girls slowly got up and followed where he had gone. When we walked out the front door, he was already sitting in Luna's midnight blue convertible. Not even knowing him for five minutes, and he already majorly fits the annoying brotherly type. Hopefully, Luna just sees it as annoying too.

"Oh, hell no! That is MY car! Get out of my car dog, or I'll turn your bitter ass into a donkey! Now!" Luna yelled.

Sam stepped out of the vehicle, "Excuse me?" he challenged.

"You heard me mutt. Away from the convertible or you'll shift into a donkey for the rest of your life. Bet your friends will have a good time laughing at the jackass that messed with a witch's possessions. NOW. STEP. AWAY." Luna's hands started glowing from the incantation she must have started in her head, and her eyes were redder then any vampires' have ever been.

"Okay okay, I'm stepping away." Sam backs away quickly, realizing the horrible mistake he stupidly made.

"A little hint bro," Lizzy offered up, "Don't touch anything that's her's, without her permission, or her evil side comes out with a vengeance." Luna had started breathing deeply and rubbing her car in that weird protective mama way, muttering 'It's okay' to the car.

I point to my car, indicating that's the car Sam wants. He quickly gets into the passenger's side and I get into the driver's side. After everyone is all set to go, which took five minutes just for Luna to 'cleanse' her car of Sam, Sam gave us directions to where he lives, which actually is only a few blocks away.

"So are you Elizabeth or Cathrynne?" Sam asks me as we get out of the car.

"I...uhh...Caitee..." I stuttered as I got out, then I quickly ran over to my twin.

"So the other one's Elizabeth?" He asked, getting closer to us.

"It's Lizzy." She snapped at him

"A feisty one and a shy one, lovely." Sam muttered to himself.

"We can hear you." Lizzy stated. "You were told we were hybrids right?"

"Oh yeah, Billy mentioned that," Sam muttered "So do you guys have any leech powers?"

"Don't call us leeches, we can't help what we are!" Lizzy snapped at Sam, her hands shaking slightly.

"Stop being an ass." I stated loudly for the first time.

"Okay, okay... Sorry... "He muttered, shocked at my words.

"We do in fact have powers, though Caitee is the most powerful out of the two of us." Lizzy replied to his question a moment later, causing me to blush. Lizzy teleported to the porch that was a few feet away. Sam looked stunned, and then turned to me. I lifted a huge rock from the ground with my mind, and then set it down gently.

"And what about the crazy one?" He said, pointing to Luna.

"The name's Luna dickweed, and I'm a witch." Her eyes were now a deep purple, what was she planning? Purple is never a good color to see with her.

"Sammy, let the poor girls in!" An exotically beautiful woman with short black hair and brown eyes said from behind Lizzy, "I'm Leah, Sam's fiancé." Lizzy went up and pulled her into a hug. She always is overly affectionate.

"I'm Elizabeth Masen, this is my sister Cathrynne Masen, and last but not least this is Luna Star, our best friend and gaurdian," Lizzy explained, pointing us all out as she introduced us.

"Sammy, they're like Renesmee and you know that... if Seth heard you call them 'leech' he would flip." Leah said, seeming to reword her sentence midway.

"Our mother may be a blood drinker, but we are not. Killing a person is an awful thing; imagine that person's family." I said speaking up a little bit louder than before. "I know that's what you are worried about. Our diet. But we prefer normal human food. Being half-blood, we can live off either."

"Let's go inside. We'll talk more then." Leah said with a big smile. We slowly and cautiously followed her inside. The house was a small cabin, but inside it was amazing. The kitchen was homey; it was the first room that we entered coming inside the door. "So girls, do you want any snacks?"

"No thanks." Luna said quickly.

"Do you have any strawberries?" I asked quietly. Leah gave me a big smile and nodded.

"What about peaches?" Lizzy asked. Leah again nodded. Then we heard a shuffling coming from outside.

"Here come some of the boys." Leah muttered, just as Jacob and three other boys came in. I sat on the chair closest to me. When Jacob looked at me, I heard his heartbeat stop and then pick up to an abnormally fast pace. I'm not sure how I was able to focus on that, with all the sounds from the other boys.

"This is Embry, Seth, and Quil." Leah said, pointing them each out to us while she also got out the fruit we asked for. Embry and Lizzy locked eyes and instantly, they were glued to each other. What was with these guys and staring at girls they liked?

Jacob came over to stand by me. "So, Cathrynne, how old are you?"

"I'm seventeen," I replied and took a big bite out of a strawberry.

"I just turned seventeen a month ago." He told me. I couldn't look away from the strawberries, knowing what I'd feel with his gaze "So, want to go on a walk with me?" He asked.

"Sure." I replied. I grabbed a few strawberries for the way and followed Jacob out the door.

Lizzy nor Luna had time to ask where I was going, I just followed Jacob.
