Lisanna suddenly jolts awake, sapphire eyes opening to a world of gray. Streaks of rain fall down on her, splashing and dripping, sliding off and leaving trails of wetness. The sky above is gray and dark, not menacing but sad, almost regretful. She slowly sits up, surveying her surroundings. The trees loom around her, their normally vibrant green leaves gone, leaving dull, bare branches that sway forlornly and grasp at the sky above.

Driven by an invisible force, she gets up and begins to run, without direction and without reason. The rain continues to fall around her, pattering in a foreign rhythm that she's sure conveys a message. She strains to understand it, but in the end her efforts are futile and the rain fades to the background of her consciousness, where it continues to tap out its mournful melody. Drip, drop.

The wind whistles past her ear, making the trees in front of her sway in a slow dance. It seems to be speaking to her. Go back, go back, it says. But Lisanna cannot stop, her legs won't slow and she can't control them and suddenly the scene in front of her disintegrates, dust blowing away on the wind.

The trees are green, the sky is blue, and cotton-candy clouds puff across the sky. It's a far happier landscape, but the sweet breeze carries a tang of menace. Lisanna stands for a moment, brows furrowed. This world is wrong.

She doesn't know how to explain it. The world of before, the world of gray and trees clawing at the wind and steadily dropping rain, was sincere. Real. But the world she's in, the world of now, of bright colors and sweet breezes- it's not supposed to be that way. It's wrong . Fake.

The same force drives her to begin running again, this time as birds trill on the breeze, their songs so cheerful it pains her ears. Before long she emerges in a small clearing, and laughter, true, real laughter, rings in her ears.

The emotions wash over her like a tidal wave, threatening to pull her under. She collapses to the ground, choking back a sob, as the scene before her disappears much like the other, whirling away as too-bright pieces into darkness.

Lisanna suddenly opens her eyes, staring right into charred, scarred wood. She's in the guild, head in her arms on the table. She must have fallen asleep.

The last scene of her dream is imprinted with incredible clarity in her mind.

Natsu.

Lucy.

And a little pink-haired girl burning with fire.

She feels a soft hand on her shoulder, but she refuses to look up. The wetness on her cheeks is all too clear and cold. What could she do if it was Natsu or Lucy trying to talk to her?

"Lisanna." It's Juvia, speaking softly, like rain pattering slowly on the edges of Lisanna's consciousness. "I'm sorry."

Lisanna suddenly remembers why she's asleep at the guild, of all places.

The engagement party was the night before.

A/N: Sorry if you like Nali! :( I just wanted some excuse to make a depressing fic. Review please! :)
