Drabbles – Switch – 200 Words
It had not gone unnoticed. Alexander had seen the teasing, taunts and rude remarks from the other companions towards Hephaestion. It was now time to switch the tables.
The timing was perfect. Hephaestion had been slightly injured when some logs gave way while making a bridge. He wasn't injured seriously but enough to put Alexander's plan into action.
They thought Hephaestion held his high position because of his thighs. Alexander had to admit that he appreciated his thighs a lot but that had nothing to do with his closeness to the King.
With Hephaestion still resting in bed, Alexander entered the meeting. He announced that Hephaestion's duties would have to be taken over by someone else till he recovered. When he was done handing out each and every task that Hephaestion was responsible for, everyone had a new task, some even sharing the harder jobs. One rule he included, they couldn't ask Hephaestion for help.
The next few days of moaning and frustration came to a head about the time that Hephaestion felt well enough to take over his duties again.
Hephaestion received a very warm and genuine welcome back.
It's amazing what walking in someone else's shoes will do.
Drabbles – Switch – 100 Words
The teacher looked down on the two apprehensive faces before him. They had been caught red-handed. They knew they were going to get punished. The waiting was killing them.
The teacher took his time before he spoke. Finally, he told them to go out and bring back a switch.
Returning minutes later, they handed him the small stick. The teacher looked it over, frowning. He told them to get another, this time longer and thicker.
Knowing already that he wasn't going to use it, the look on their faces as they left was better than any punishment he could give.
