It was dark.
But the straining eyes could make out the scattered light through the cloth that was strung tightly over the pale face. The light seeped through the cracks at the bottom of the door. It gave hope.
Blood fell in droplets onto the tile. It was cold and damp and it made the warm body uncomfortably shiver in agony. Scattered splinters from the wood, dug into her fingers the harder she pressed against the bottom of the chair. The pads of Gail's fingertips bled.
The violent thrashing ceased a long time ago. There was no use in fighting anymore. The restraints were tight enough to bring pain onto her abdomen, but loose enough to let her breathe...barely.
They couldn't do anything anymore, and she was defenseless. Gail knew her time was up.
Heavy footsteps sounded from outside of the room; they grew closer and she heard struggled screams.
The door swung open, and Gail felt the breeze of hot air tickle the goosebumps on her legs. The screams continued, but they were clearer this time.
She knew that voice.
" Holly?" She barely breathed.
The screaming halted immediately, and Gail swore she heard a whimper.
The ends of the cloth were yanked off of Gail's face, and she was met with the person for whom she cared for the most, the person she fell in love with.
A man grasped Holly's arm and shoved a gun in her hand, positioning the gun towards Gail.
" You kill the blonde, or I kill you."
" You can't make me do this." Holly pleaded. The streams were endless. " I love her."
" Look at her." Another man grabbed Holly's face and forced it to look at Gail's. " I said look at her before I decide to make her suffer slowly."
Holly opened her eyes, and clenched her jaw. Gail was beaten up and bruised, purple and red. She almost looked like one of the corpses on her autopsy table.
" Gail, I love you." Holly's arms clenched in place, but the man's arms steadied the gun back on Gail.
" I will always love you."
Gail desperately clung everything close to the heart, her memories and all her love, so it wouldn't fly away. She was ready.
" Holly, please. I can't live with myself knowing that you're dead. I love you" Gail managed to say as she stood straight up against her chair.
The man gripped Holly's arm tighter. " You have 5 seconds...4…"
" I can't..."
"3…"
" This is all I ask of you."
Holly closed her eyes and pressed her finger on the trigger.
…
A body jerked awake. Another restless night and endless terrors to come. Perick was nothing compared to this. There was always that option, but Holly was the selfish one.
Gail rolled to her side, and let her fingers brush the vacant sheets.
It was dark. Gail's thoughts were dark, her desires were dark, and she sorely wished Holly pulled the trigger on her that night.
