Today is a very special day. How special, you ask?
Well, today is the day that Ro, Meems and I celebrate a birthday. Well, their birthday. How do we celebrate it? We come to the bar. No, it's really not like that. Rowan doesn't even seem to like alcohol much, unless it's got some sweet flavor going on. Mimi… well, I just can never picture her drinking. We're here for the restaurant part of the Russet bar.
I can't help but smile at my two best friends, the two that perfectly complete our little trio. The reactions toward the mini cake I had prepared for them, which sported two candles, were different between the two of them. Rowan seemed delighted, she thanked me numerous times, and Mimi seemed to just want to eat it right then and there. Well, I wouldn't expect any less than that from Mimi.
I brought my hands together, "Time to sing happy birthday!" My smile seemed to only brighten Rowan's more, and Mimi seemed to feed off of my own energy. Tonight was a special night, for two special girls. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday Rowan and Mimiiiiiiii~" I took in a breath, ignoring the looks of neighboring tables, "happy birthday to you!~" We all clapped and laughed before Mimi leaned down and, accidentally, blew out both candles. Rowan made a face, "Wasn't that my candle to blow out?" Mimi sheepishly shrugged and I brought out a lighter to light her candle again.
"Go for it, Ro," I said after I lit the candle. Rowan leaned down and, after brushing her hair fallen hair out of the way, blew out her candle. Mimi and I clapped for her, smiling and joking about how she was 'getting so old'; but I couldn't help but notice (out of the corner of my eye, of course) the bartender looking over at our table. But he didn't look at us like the others did, he seemed to be distracted.
And I, of course, put on my best teasing smile and looked at the subject of his distraction, "Hey, Ro…" I began my sentence as innocently as I could. It seemed to work, because her eyes met mine instantly, "…I think that guy over there thinks you're cute." I said and I jerked a thumb over my shoulder in his general direction. Her eyes followed, but once they met the person, who was probably also staring at her, she looked away. I could see her blushing, but she was also smiling. Mimi piped up, "Are you guys crushing on each other?" she sang out, poking Rowan with her index finger playfully.
"N-no!" Rowan tried to defend herself, but it wasn't going to work. We continued to prod at the subject; the rest of the night was filled with laughter, cake and my secret formulated plan to get these two together. Oh, and my other top-secret work-in-progress plan to get Mimi back after smashing some cake in my face.
