Unity City is an utter ruin of combat lost, but the fighting no longer is happening in those streets. The battle rages outside the Star Palace itself. Massive armored warriors fight, laser and missile, even though the battle is decided. I've sent most of my personal guardian 'Mechs into the fray already, hoping against hope that maybe, just maybe, we can stop the good General's troops.
Of course that wasn't the case. They've all been smashed, and the Star League Defense Force is taking no prisoners. I watched a Rifleman kick in the cockpit of a disabled Thug, a downed Marauder take a disgusting volley of Infernos, a Wasp all but crushed by one of those deaths' head Atlases. The SLDF isn't even pretending to be honorable foes anymore. They're simply going to kill us all.
I know, complaining about the utter slaughter of my troops after what I did to the Cameron's is hypocritical to the highest degree. I must admit, even I feel sometimes guilty about what I did to Richard and his family. Because of me, the Star League is in tatters. How long will it take for it to recover? Decades? Centuries? I daresay that it can't, but that strikes me a just a little egotistical.
But that's a future I'll never see. I doubt I'll survive the night.
The last of my defenders have lost all cohesion as a fighting force. Disorganized, cut off, and soon to be cut down. I'd send orders for them to regroup and organize a proper last stand, but the chain of command out there has far too many holes in it for anyone to know who's giving orders anymore. Even if I somehow saw a way out of this, there's no way for me to communicate it to my soldiers.
Ahh, here he comes. I see an olive-colored Orion and an Atlas approaching the Palace. I'm not sure of the Atlas, but I have no doubts that the Orion is the mount of the great General Alexandr Kerensky himself. The Atlas must be one of his highest officers, judging by the excellence of the movement and the way he handles that beast's raw power. Maybe the good General Aaron DeChevilier? Regardless, he's using that monster to tear apart the outer defensive walls.
And now, Alexandr's Orion has just kicked in the gates, and is firing on the Palace itself.
Anyone that doubts my fate must be entirely mad.
The vengeful Kerensky isn't even firing controlled bursts anymore. He's launching everything the has, laying waste to my final haven. What does he wish to accomplish with this? He can't hope to detain me if I'm dead... and maybe that's the entire point. His weapons launch in a flurry, destroying some part of the eastern wing...
... my family's quarters.
That horrible bastard just killed my entire family! Blood for blood, then? I killed the general's lord Richard and every man, woman, and child with the merest hint of Cameron blood in them. Is this his revenge, killing my family? Making them pay for my crimes! You miserable son of a bitch, you just as much a monster as I am.
He must know I'm here. He's now pointing his autocannon right at me.
... why doesn't he fire?
Kill me.
Kill me, damn you!
... see you in Hell, Kerensky. Surely you will follow soon.
