It was pouring that day. As if the Gods themselves were weeping, during the Queen's funeral procession. Her flag drapped coffin, was pulled by the finest horses in the realm. The flag which bore her crest, a red heart shielding a bow and an arrow cris crossing one another, with a pair of stags on either side, and the motto Fortitudo Est Amor, on the bottom.
Her children and grand children following the coffin, their father long passed. Beginning with her son's Henry and Rolland, each marching in unison and each in full military regalia, showing both of love of Queen and Country. Followed by Rolland's half siblings, Marcus, Lilly, Cora, and Edmund, who where followed by their children and nannies. Each matching the other's pace, and each trying to keep the tears at bay, despite failing miserably. All under the eyes of the citizenry of the Kingdom.
Anybody who was anybody, from the lowliest peasant to the richest noble. Was there to pay the respects to the fallen monarch and to her family. Forgien dignitaries of the White Empire, the Swan Principality, and the Golden Kingdom representing their monarchs who couldn't make it bowed their heads in respect. As the Queen's caisson, her children, and grand children passed by.
As they reached the hallowed ground that made up the royal graveyard Henry began to think of the times of him and of his mother, before he found Emma, thinking of all the good times he spent with her. Both before and after of everybody's return to the enchanted forest. Before her meeting Robin and Rolland, he remember her taking him on long rides as she showed of places of importance and of pain. Teaching him how to use magic, despite Emma's hesitancy. Learning real pollitics from her even when she was pregnant with Cora and Edmund. Always feeling welcome at her pallace whenever he needed a break from being a Prince.
While Rolland was just looked like he was in shock, knowing that his step mother was dead. Despite that the Queen was not his biological mother he remembers getting into fights with other children who dared say that the Queen wasn't his real mother. Threatening duels who insulted her name and winning every time. Earning himself the nickname the Bloody Red Baron, to the point that his father threaten him with imprisonment if he continued with these duels. Though the Queen threaten him with a fate worse than death if he continued dueling.
While at the same time her other children were remembering both the good and the bad of being children of the Queen of Hearts. Marcus remembering seeing his mother banishing the servents when he got sick, and nursing him back to health herself. Lilly seeing the Queen ripping out a man's heart after he broke hers. Cora remembering arguing with her mother on how she wanted go with the Queen to Golden Kingdom, but couldn't. Finally Edmund remembering going to the western edge of the realm to kill ogres and a care package that his mother had sent him a cask full of rum in which he gave to his men.
Each crying, their tears mixing with the rain. Each remembering the memories of their childhood. Watching the knights folding up the flag, as the coffin is lowered into the soil. The Queen finally reunited with her husband and true love. With her headstone bearing the inscription Regina Mills, Queen of the Kingdom of Hearts, Formerly known as the Evil Queen, loving mother and wife. Then it was over with Prince Marcus, becoming the new king. With Henry thinking to himself as it ended, 'Congratulations mom, you have gotten your happy ending.'
