Robin stood there on the ledge, covered in the shadows. The only light coming from the reflection of the moon on his mask, in front of him was the Joker and Harley robbing a bank. He was sure he would show up soon so he took this as his chance. He swung down onto the scene landing a solid blow to Jokers cheek.
"What!" Was all Joker managed to mutter in response as Robin landed behind him. As he turned Robin landed another hard blow to the face. Joker doubled as Robin jumped into the darkness, not yet to be seen by Joker.
"Why so shy Batsy?" Joker said circling around. Only a moment later did he notice he was alone. "Harley? Darling? Since when do you go after Harley first? Normally that was Boy Brainless's job but it looks as if you were able to drive him away. Can't blame him though, such an untalented boy in your shadow he probably went home crying to his mommy." Joker let out a cackle still circling.
"What no comeback, no answer. You're all play no fun tonight aren't you Batsy. Maybe I shouldn't have brought up the boy blunder, huh? It's not your fault he's such a failure, he couldn't even take me down." He said and cackled again. "No skill, none what so ever. Was it pity that made you take on that young boy, did he come crawling to you on his knee's to help him become a man. Ha! The moment things got hard he fled, just like the baby he is. What Great Expectations he had Batsy. So what are you waiting for Batsy, ATTACK!"
"You can't handle this can you Joker?" Said Robin.
"Wait, who're you?" He yelled. "You're not Batman."
"Boy Brainless, Boy Blunder, Bird Boy. When you explained to me the cruelty The Joker has done you did not include the fact that he has no imagination." Came another softer feminine voice.
"What's going on here!" He yelled circling frantically. "Where is Harley?"
"Darling help me!" Harley yelled.
"Batman wouldn't hold people against their will, who are you!" He yelled.
Robin quickly swept Joker and he fell to the floor with a thump. Then Joker found himself bound together with Harley to his back.
"That's just it Joker, I'm not Batman. I've been his protégé, his partner, his son, and I've been the existence that lived in his shadows. I'm…" He stepped out of the shadows.
"Robin, how… You could never…"
"Great Expectations, that's a new one Joker, even for you."
"You're supposed to be gone."
"Honestly Joker I would've thought the first thing you would've done the moment you broke out of Arkham was check a newspaper." A newspaper slid out of the Jump City Times, showing the Teen Titans as the new Generation of heroes. That they were quickly surpassing the JLA and that Robin has become the hero Batman never could.
"What?" Was all Joker muttered. Just then Starfire walked out of the shadows and walked next to Robin.
"If you haven't noticed yet Joker, I've permanently moved out of the shadow of the bat, and I think it's fair enough that I've met those Great Expectations."
Starfire and Robin then fled the building. Starfire didn't know it but the entire time they were being watched. Though Robin knew he was there, watching silently, and so did Joker.
"He's become something you know that Batman? He's dark, and corruptible but he's become something." Joker said aloud. "And as for as those Great Expectations go, I don't think he's met them. Yours, hell yeah, but I don't think he's trying to meet yours anymore, he's following someone else's. So would you like to know who? Or do you want to find out yourself?"
"Why so serious Joker?" Batman said sounding agitated as he walked out of the shadows and picked up the papers.
"I don't know."
