"Do not pity the dead Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love."
-Albus Dumbledore
Love's Labours Lost
Love. Such a small word and yet, can hold a person's eternal happiness. But if given to the wrong person it can easily be shattered, extinguished cruelly or even unintentionally, it is pushed away. But who should you pity; the heartbreaker or the broken hearted?
Pity the heartbreaker I say, for if one cannot accept love into their lives then how could they truly be happy, whereas a person who is filled with such a wondrous feeling and can give it so easily, they will always live their life knowing that they will always be loved by somebody.
A love of a mother is ever lasting, from the moment she sets eyes upon her child to the moment she leaves this world, a mother's love stays with us beyond death, it is a love that never dies and it comforts us knowing we are loved so dearly even past mortality.
A sibling's love is another kind that is both unique and special, when we look down at our younger kin an outright protectiveness is emitted from our very being; we strive to make their life that little bit easier, we aim to guide them to not make the same mistakes we did, we do this because it is our duty as the elder sibling. We look up to our older brothers and sisters, because they have seen more of life than we have. When we are unsure, we look to them and they give us wiser words than we cannot think of in our youthful age. When we fear something, they are the ones to comfort us and chase away the shadows and monsters that hide in the corners and under our beds.
Our fathers pick us up when we are down. We work to make them proud and in return, are rewarded with gentle smiles and hugs filled with fatherly love. Fathers protect the whole family, they stand in the way of danger and will stop at nothing if anything threatens their loved ones happiness and safety.
Then there is love between partners, a love we all strive to find and one that cannot always be found, but when it is and with the right person, it is a love that knows no bounds.
And then the love between friends is an incredible one that can be made any time in our life's with anyone who takes it and gives it back in kindness, in dire times we search out our friends knowing they will always be there as a shoulder to lean on, but it should never be taken for granted because when it is one sided and only one puts effort and care into it then the trust will soon break.
Love... I had plenty of it and more at one point but I soon lost it. I loved my sister and my brother with all my heart. My mother and father meant the world to me. But one by one I found myself losing everything, until I had nothing but pain and regret. I wish I had not made the mistakes I had, for they will remain with me until the day I reside in the ground. Because, I, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, lost everybody I loved.
