A.N: I had to do a project at school were we had to do the declaration of independence in our own words including why we (the colonist) were breaking all ties with england. I was curious to see what people thought of it. Review but no flames! Peace out!

Declaration of Independence

The following is true, for every human being in America. Men, women, children, black, white, elderly, young, disabled, un-disabled, elderly, young, it does not matter. We are all created equal. Everybody has natural rights that can't be taken from them no matter what. If any government should dare oppose this, you have every right to stand up and overthrow that government. We have the right to overthrow our government because King George has imposed unacceptable laws and taxes, everything from overcrowding our towns with soldiers in times of peace to taxation without representation. This is the reason we stand up and fight. We have given King George many opportunities to repeal but he has refused. It is time for everybody to know what he has done to us.

King George has set up all these laws for England's benefit alone. We the people have no representation whatsoever in parliament. England decides the terms and salaries for our judges; England appoints the judge, that's not what one would call a fair trial. There is no Jury in smuggling cases at all. We are forced to house soldiers in our homes, to feed them while they watch us and learn our secrets. Do you want these murders near our children? Remember the Boston massacre? The King has even gone as far as to shut down any trade with other parts of the world! He has completely utterly destroyed the lives of our good people. Do you really want to live this way, a prisoner in your own home? Even when we sent a petition promising to be loyal in exchange for repealing the Intolerable Acts, he turned up his nose at us!

We the people have had enough. As of now, we break all ties with England. No matter what is thrown at us we will throw it back with ten times the force! We the people of the United States of America are our own land. We pledge our minds, bodies, and souls to each other. We will be free!
