Title: Fragile
Pairing: Vincent x Rachel
A/N: A small idea in my mind that I thought would make for a nice one shot. I plan to be writing more about Rachel and Vincent and things before they kuroshitsuji story line, even before Ciel was born. Enjoy.
"Lord Phantomhive, I'd like for you to meet my daughters. Rachel and Angelina."
Lord Phantomhive turned to face the two beautiful women introduced by their father.
"It's a pleasure to meet such beautiful women."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Phantomhive." Rachel Durless stood before the tall mysterious man. He took her hand gently and kisses it ever so gently. Raising his head back up to smile at her. This caused Rachel to giggle softly to herself.
"The pleasure is all mine." Rachel didn't miss that small wink he gave her before he let go of her hand and turned to the other sister.
"H-hello Lord P-Phantomhive." Angelina gave a stiff curtsy, obviously nervous and trying to keep calm.
"Hello Lady Angelina, it's a pleasure to meet you as well." Vincent did the same to Angelina he did to Rachel, minus the wink but adding a comment.
"Your hair is very pretty. Red suits you, my lady." Angelina's blush didn't go unnoticed by Vincent and he gave a low chuckle at that.
"Excuse me, but it is time for lady Angelina's lessons."
"Very well, Angelina." Her father turned to her expectantly.
"Lord Phantomhive, it was nice to meet you. I do hope to meet you again." With that, Angelina gave another curtsy and followed after the maid.
"Rachel, why don't you show Vincent the gardens and talk for a while."
"That would be wonderful." Vincent turned towards the beautiful blonde and held his arm out to her. Rachel looped her hand on his offered arm and smiled. "Lead the way my lady." Rachel giggled again and led the handsome man out toward the gardens.
"Oh dear Ann, if you want to win a mans heart, you must understand how to act around them. If you wish to gain the affections of a man you must appear weak and kind in his presence. Especially if he is a high standing noble like Lord Phantomhive. You must let them feel superior and not overpower them. What will other nobles think? Always smile and don't say much. You must stand by his side, willing to do whatever he asks of you. That is how a lady should act around her husband."
"But, Rachel..."
"You want to know where I learned that? Mother taught me. Even though I wasn't at an age to be courting men at the time, she gave me the best advice I could have in my life. And now I'm telling you." Rachel gently ran her fingers through Ann's long red hair. Leaning down she gently kissed her sisters cheek and looked at their reflections in the mirror. "Goodnight Ann."
With that, Rachel stood up and turned to leave the room. Once the door was closed, she stood there, hand lightly resting on the door handle.
"Forgive me, dear sister, but you are simply just too fragile. And you know how I hate losing."
Seven months later, Rachel and Vincent stood at the alter of a grand chapel, everyone there to witness the bonding of two lives. In the front, the one person who should have been the most happy, was the most sad.
As Rachel gave Ann the sweetest smile she possessed, her mind held one thought.
'I Win."
