Welcome to 'Fire and Ice', the sequel to 'A new Avenger'!

In my previous story I brought Anna and Elsa to New York, so now it's time to get the Avengers to Arendelle!
Please, enjoy!

The sun rises slowly, climbing its way up the Northern Mountains to shine down on the still fjords of Arendelle. It's early in the morning and the kingdom is still sound asleep. There is only a soft breeze that wafts through the clearing and the distant sound of birdsong... and Kristoff's snoring. With his hair all over the place and drool slowly running over his cheek, he hugs Anna's pillow. It's something he has done since the day she left. Somehow, it comforts him.

Kristoff snores loudly, waking himself up in the process. "Anna?" He says softly, still sleep driven. There is a hint in his voice, but when he turns around and sees the empty space next to him, he sighs and places his hand before his eyes. Sven, who lays down next to the bed, huffs.

"Yeah, good morning to you too." Kristoff replies, without moving his hand.

Sven huffs again and jumps up, he trots around nervously.

"I know, I miss her too."

Sven continues to huff, and Kristoff even hears his hooves clatter on the ground as the reindeer jumps around. Kristoff doesn't really pay much attention to it, not until Sven jumps on the bed.

"Wha— Hey! Sven, buddy, what are you—" Kristoff stops abruptly when a shadow falls over the kingdom. He pushes off the blankets and quickly pulls his shirt over his head as he walks towards the window. Kristoff's jaw drops slightly as his eyes fall on the source. Since the moment he met Anna, Kristoff had seen quite a deal. A talking snowman, an entire castle made of ice, a queen with powers... But this? It's unlike anything he has ever seen.

Kristoff doesn't waste any more time and dashes out his room. He pulls a sword out of the nearest metal knight's grasp in the hallway, ignoring the soft, but somewhat excited whispers from the staff who are looking outside the window as well. Kristoff is about to reach the staircase as he runs into Olaf.

"Hey, Kristoff! Have you seen that weird looking bird already?" Olaf exclaims enthusiastically.

"I don't think that's a bird, Olaf." Kristoff replies as he runs down the stairs, skipping a few steps at a time.

"Hey, wait for me!" Olaf yells after him. Sven quickly turns around and hoists the snowman on his back. The three of them burst through the doors towards the courtyard as the Helicarrier touches down, creating heavy downforce that draws startled screams from the crowd that has gathered there. The ramp of the Helicarrier opens slowly, Kristoff breathes heavily and tightens the grip around the sword. "Everyone, get behind me!" He orders.

Standing in front of the whole kingdom, he positions himself in a protective fighting stance. After a nerve breaking moment, Kristoff finally gets to see what is going on. His strong demeanor softens when he sees Anna standing atop of the ramp.

"Kristoff?" Anna says, tears welling up in her eyes immediately. Kristoff drops his sword and runs towards the Helicarrier where he meets Anna halfway. They collide in hug. Olaf gasps enthusiastically, lifting his head from his body. "Anna and Elsa are home!" And after hearing these words, the people of Arendelle break out in deafening cheers.

Olaf jumps off Sven's back and runs as fast as his little legs allows him to. Queen Elsa kneels down and laughs softly as Olaf hugs her. "You're back!" He exclaims. "We missed you so much!"

"Right..." Tony says, slightly shocked. "Talking snowman."

"We missed you too, Olaf." Elsa smiles. Anna, Kristoff and Sven join them. Sven perks his ears and he tilts his head as he looks at the Avengers.

"Come, Sven. Let's say hi!" Olaf says and runs up the ramp, Sven follows closely. Olaf laughs as he finally reaches the top, out of breath. "Whoo! And I thought it was hard to run up the stairs in the castle!" Then he makes sure each body part is in place before he introduces himself. "Hi, I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!"

The group just looks at him, each of their faces shows a hint astonishment and disbelief. Olaf merely blinks a few times before he looks at Sven. He puts his hand before his mouth as he proceeds in a whisper. "Sven, I think you're scaring them."

"I like this little man of snow!" Thor chuckles. He moves to stand in front of him, he gets down on one knee and smiles. "I am Thor Odinson, and I like to hit things with my hammer."

"As much as I like to see Olaf making new friends," Kristoff says to the sisters and points at their injured faces. "I would like to hear what has happened while you were gone."

"I believe we do owe you an explanation." Elsa says and takes a few steps closer to her people. Bruce heart flutters in his chest as he sees Elsa taking on a stoic stance. Although she is still wearing Nat's suit and her hair is still down, the regal aura she radiates is overwhelming. Elsa raises her voice so she will be heard by everyone.

"As you may recall, I entered the portal that appeared above the fjord some time ago. When I got to the other side of that portal, I was lost and hurt. But not long thereafter, mister Bruce Banner found me." She stretches her arm out to him. The people's attention moves towards him and Bruce grows nervous. He waves awkwardly at them as the tip of his ears grow red. But when he glances at Elsa, and sees how he smiles at him fondly, he quickly forgets the piercing gaze of Arendelle.

"He was kind enough to take care of me. And that's also when I met this group of remarkable people." After a quick round of introductions, Elsa continues and tells her people everything that has happened from the moment she walked onto the bridge of the Helicarrier till the moment they arrived back in Arendelle. "For so long it was just us and the neighboring kingdoms, but there is a whole different world out there."

"A more dangerous world." A man in the crowd says, drawing murmurs of agreement.

"That is right." Elsa replies. "But these people here." She points towards the Avengers. "They have fought in a war. They have fought in a war against aliens, and they won."

"These people didn't even flinch when Elsa mentioned aliens." Steve remarks.

"They live in a kingdom ruled by a queen with ice powers, Anna's boyfriend's pet is a reindeer and their best friend is a talking snowman. Why should they be amazed by aliens?" Tony asks in return.

"Fair point."

"Where they come from, these people are heroes." Elsa says fondly.

"Every one of us except Loki, that is." Tony whispers under his breath, but still loud enough for the group to hear. Fury glares at him for a short moment before he steps forward.

"You honor us, Your Majesty, but we are not the only ones who deserves credit." He says. "Only because of your and the princess's aid we were able to win this war. You helped us protect our home. Now we want to express our gratitude by returning the favor."

"Is it just me, or is the director being awfully friendly?" Bruce asks, narrowing his eyes in suspicion.

"The Avengers as well as Director Fury's agents will stay in Arendelle for a while. The Guard will be expanded and trained by the Director's finest men." Elsa sweeps her eyes over the unsure expressions of the people in front of her. She smiles warmly and walks closer towards them. A little boy looks up at her in awe. She ruffles the boy's hair and looks up at the mother for approval before she picks him up.

"There is so much just beyond our borders. The world is so much bigger, and we didn't even know. For so long we have lived our lives in isolation. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because the last few years we have been doing just fine on our own. But I say it's time for change. It's true that there is danger out there, but where there was danger..." Elsa looks at the Avengers. "I also found friends and allies. The things they can learn from us, and the things they can teach us in return will help us grow as a kingdom." The queen puts down the boy again. She folds her hands behind her back and takes on the stoic stance. "Know that I only act in the best interest of my people and I hope I was able to put your minds at ease. If there is only one of you who doesn't agree with their stay, please step forward and tell me. We will talk in private and if we still didn't manage to change your mind, I will remove the Avengers immediately."

"Wait, you will?" Fury asks in a whisper.

Elsa ignores him as she waits for her people to respond, but there is only silence. After a short moment, it's the towns baker who replies. "Friends of our Majesties are friends of Arendelle." Director Fury trains his gaze on the people and sees how uncertainty slowly gives way for smiles of approval.

"How about we celebrate the stay of our new friends?" Anna suggests, taking place next to Elsa.

"That sounds wonderful." Elsa replies. "Princess Anna and myself will host a ball in honor of the Avengers. The palace doors will be open for anyone who wishes to join us."

After another round of cheers, the crowd slowly dissipates and leave. The group walks down the ramp of the Helicarrier, and once everyone got off, Fury orders an agent to 'park' it somewhere else. Kristoff wraps his arm around Anna's waist and gives her a soft peck on the head. "I really missed you, you know?"

"I missed you too." Anna smiles brightly at him and hugs him tightly. "So, now what?" She asks next, turning to Elsa.

"Well, I don't know about you guys but I'm starving." Clint says.

"In that case, I'll have the staff prepare some food." Elsa replies.

"That's already taken care off, Your Majesty." Kai says. He and Gerda stand on top of the few stairs towards the castle. Anna and Elsa exchange smiles before they run over to pull them into a hug.

"We are so glad you're alright." Gerda breathes relieved. She holds a hand of each sister as she studies their injured faces and torn clothes. "Running straight into danger like that was one thing, but fighting in a war against aliens?!" The maid takes a deep breath before she smiles warmly at the sisters. "Your parents would have been so proud."

"Come on." Gerda says next. "I'll have you have you cleaned up and in different clothes before lunch." While Gerda guides Anna and Elsa inside the castle Kai turns to the rest of the group. "I believe you would like to get the chance to freshen up as well. Allow me to show you your rooms."
