The Way You Look Tonight

~oOo~

Ranger's POV

~oOo~

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

~oOo~

When the DJ made his announcement, I took my new bride's hand and led her to the dance floor. She was always beautiful, but tonight... Tonight, she was absolutely stunning. I knew that no matter where I was, I only had to look back to the vision of her today, and I would be home.

~oOo~

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

~oOo~

She was flushed from the warm summer night air, the ceremony, the crowd, the dancing. I brushed my hand softly across her face, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear, and whispered, "Your skin is so soft, your smile so beautiful and warm. You're stunning, Babe."

~oOo~

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

I watched her eyes as I spoke and saw the love for me radiating out of them.

"Can you believe we almost didn't make it here?" she asked me, laughing.

I watched her face light up. I loved her face when she laughed. All the tough-girl image she tried so hard to project most of the time was gone, and in its place was a purely feminine, playful, beautiful woman.

~oOo~

Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.

~oOo~

Suddenly, she tripped over the toe of her shoe and blushed bright red. "God, I'm so embarrassed. How could I expect to dance tonight, my wedding of all times, when I can barely walk without tripping?"

She tried hiding her face in my jacket, but I put a finger under her chin and forced her head up.

"Don't hide your face, esposa. Never hide from me. That," I said, glancing down, "is simply part of your charm. Never change for anyone—especially not for me. I love you for who you are, clumsiness and all."

~oOo~

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

~oOo~

She blushed again, but this time, her smile flashed warmly around the room, and I felt her love and her inner beauty pouring out to match even her lovely outer beauty.

"I hope you know that no matter what, I will never be able to do anything but love you. Your heart, your soul, your mind...your body." I grinned. "Nothing there but to love."

~oOo~

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.

As the song ended, the DJ said, "Now, everyone give one last hand for the newly married Carlos and Stephanie Manoso. They make a beautiful couple, don't they, folks? Go ahead, join them on the dance floor!"

My arms tightened around Steph, and I whispered, "Love you, Babe," as we began to move to the beat of the next song.
