A/N: There is no character focus so he can be whoever you want. Any kind of relationship would fit as well, lovers, Teacher/student, sibling bond, friendship. I can be male, female, anything really. My sister said this whole thing was weird and the lack of character focus annoyed her so please review and tell me if she was right.

Disclaimer: I would be the happiest little camper to ever set foot in the woods if I owned FMA. Seeing as how that is not so, I shall just have to be a mediocre happy camper.

Again and again I've watched him die. Again and again I couldn't save him. Again and again I've tried to stop it. Again and again I've failed.

The Clock Work Alchemist was the name bestowed upon me by the Fuhrer. My unique alchemy gives me the ability to turn time backwards, at the cost of that time being subtracted from my lifespan of course. A few years are probably all that remain after my recent frequent use. There was no way I could stop though, not until I ensured his survival. Regrettably, nothing I did managed to prevent his demise.

I attempted to stall him; he ignored me. I tried getting him to take a different route; he didn't of course. Once, I got so frustrated I began crying. I ran off, hoping he would follow. He would have, he even started after me, but the riot began. The same riot that started every time. The same riot he died in every time.

If it was possible to discover the identity of the person who fired that fateful shot, I would have disarmed the killer the first time I turned back the clock. There were multiple guns being fired by multiple people at multiple times so finding out such a thing would be impossible.

I was forced to watch over and over as he fell back from the shock of the bullet invading his body, crumbled to the ground in his now-broken form, and bled his life out onto the street. I think I've finally saved him though.

As the crowd swarmed around him, I latched onto his arm and heaved with all my might. The energy it took to pull him backwards pushed me forward. I didn't stop myself.

Blinding pain pierced through me as the small chunk of metal slammed into me. He called out to me as I descended, fighting his way to my side. He bent down to my cherry painted lips and listened to my whispered words.

"Equivalent exchange. The answer was so simple. If only I'd remembered that the first time…"

I was sent away into nothingness by his voice telling me to hold on. But I already knew how this would end so I closed my eyes and said good-bye.
