I am still pretty early in the Buffy series, but in this Maka has become as the next Slayer. Just letting you know in case any referenced characters die later.

Maka POV

I sat on my bed, the alarm's digital screen reading midnight. Soul should be asleep by now, right?

I went to my windowsill and jumped down onto the pavement, running as fast as I could to the DeathCity graveyard. Tonight was my last patrol in DeathCity. Tomorrow afternoon, I was leaving for Los Angeles. Los Angeles seemed like a smarter place for a Slayer to be living. After all, how is a Slayer supposed to keep her secret in this place, where Lord Death knows everybody's darkest secrets?

I walked around the graveyard, my eyes peeled for vamps. I had only seen one, and they were young and easy to defeat. I new I would miss Kid, Soul, Tsubaki and the others, but I needed to go forward with my destiny. My fate had been sealed the moment I was born.

As I turned to leave, I felt a hand on my shoulder and sensed a vampire soul behind me. I reacted by twisting myself, grabbing their wrist, and throwing them onto the ground.

"Ow!" they shouted.

"Angel?" I asked, bewildered. I had met Angel a few years ago while slaying when I was twelve. He had saved me multiple times and we became close friends. We still wrote, emailed, and called each other, though we hadn't seen each other in nearly three years.

"Yeah, it's me. Remember, you wanted help getting your stuff to LA tomorrow."

"That doesn't mean you get to scare the crap out of me," I remarked, "After all, I am on patrol, and you're a vamp. I need to be ready for something to try and kill me!"

He rolled his eyes and we talked while walking on patrol. He had been living in LA, doing whatever it was he did.

As the night came to a close, I turned, hugged him, and told him to meet me at my apartment at nine the next night.

As I left, I knew that my life was about to change.

Soul POV

Time Skip: School

Maka was extremely agitated today, and lashed out at anyone. The last thing she said before we decided to ditch her at lunch was, "Leave me alone. I don't need you."

What was with her?

Maka POV

I went home, and immediately finished up my packing. I stayed in my room until dinner, only to find Soul with another girl. He didn't hear or see me, and neither had the other girl. I turned and went to my window, leaving my door open. I threw my bags off to the edge, planning on waiting at the graveyard for Angel.

Just as I jumped from my windowsill, I heard Soul yell, "MAKA!"

Soul POV

I talked to Cara, my girlfriend, when I heard a thump outside of the house. I looked up, seeing Maka on her jumping off her windowsill, and yelled for her.

"MAKA!"

When I looked out the window, I saw her with two, large bags, running toward Death City Cemetery.
