The piece of fabric covering your eyes is beginning to irritate you but whenever you try to adjust it, you hear Dan's voice telling you to leave it alone. Dan decided to take you to Paris for your birthday. You had never been to Paris before and simply couldn't see the appeal; that was until you arrived. Ever since you had landed, Dan had been a completely different person. He seemed genuinely happier. That warm smile you had grown to love was plastered on his face and showed no signs of moving, and his hand constantly rested on your side keeping you close. When you took the boat tour of the Seine River you were almost blown away by how beautiful the city was and all of its famous monuments. You would never forget the moment when Dan wrapped his arms around you and whispered sweet nothings in your ear while nuzzling his face in your neck.
You would never forget how much you laughed when Dan came up with the ridiculous idea of climbing the 347 steps to the first floor of the Eiffel tower, and then collapsed on the ground exhausted. You would never forget how perfectly your hands slotted together and how happy you felt when Dan would lean in to kiss your cheek every so often. Most importantly, you would never forget how much you loved Daniel James Howell.
You felt the car pull to a stop and you were instructed to remove the blindfold.
"Dan, where the hell are we?" you grumble, waiting for your eyes to adjust to the sunlight.
Dan didn't say a word, but simply gestured ahead, a cheeky grin spreading across his face.
You lean forward and a squeal escapes your lips when you register the giant iron letters that spell out Disneyland.
"ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!" Your jaw drops as you look back to Dan who lets slip one of his velvet laughs.
"Happy Birthday beautiful!"
You keep a tight grip on Dan's hand as you drag him towards Discoveryland and don't let go until you reach Space Mountain. "Jesus (y/n) do you really want to start with this ride?" Dan asks reluctantly.
"I thought you liked roller coasters."
"I do, but this is the kind of ride you need to be mentally prepared for."
"I just think you're scared."
Dan glares at you for a few moments, then cups your face in his hands and plants his lips on yours.
"Let's go on the ride."
You squeal once more and drag Dan into the queue.
At the end of the ride you run to the photo collect point to see the outcome and burst into hysterical laughter. In the photo you look like you are having the time of your life; your arms stretched out and a smile on your face. Dan however, looks petrified.
"Oh I am so getting that photo and showing it to the world!" You giggle as you pull the money from your pocket and tell the woman behind the counter which photo you want.
The day is coming to an end.
You and Dan stroll hand in hand down the main street.
"So, what do you think of your birthday present?" Dan asks.
"It is the best birthday present ever." You squeeze his hand "But how did you know I'd want to come here?"
"I remembered you saying once that you think Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. So, (y/n) how does it feel to be in the happiest place in the entire world?"
You feel your heart flutter.
"I'm not there just yet." You tell him.
"Oh?" He responds, confusing taking over his face.
You stop and take a moment to admire every single one of his features you have come to love so dearly. Then, you pull him into a hug and press your face into his chest, feeling his arms wrap around your body.
"Now I'm in the happiest place on earth." You whisper and lean up to kiss him once more.
