The Perfect Match

Horseface

Pansy Parkinson and Draco Malfoy are the perfect match.

The two of them share an affinity with each other that no-one else could possibly hope to understand.

And although everyone else doesn't comprehend the pair, everyone else notices them. They are watched with fear and dislike. They are spoken about in angry whispers.

"Don't you just hate Pansy and Draco?"

And Pansy and Draco look back, with their cold eyes and identical smirks.

Pansy and Draco like being feared. Because fear is respect.

They enjoy taunting their classmates. They enjoy the freedom of hate. They enjoy being cruel.

Because what else is there?

Pansy and Draco were raised in privilege.

They were privileged enough to be shown the way to act, and how to think.

They have learnt that being good doesn't get anyone anywhere. To achieve something in life, one must be prepared to go to any lengths necessary.

No matter what the price.

Everyday they must practice the things they have been taught to be.

To be perfect. To be superior. To be untouchable.

To be a Malfoy. To be a Parkinson.

They plan out their lives. In accordance with their parents expectations.

They live how they want to live. Under the silent rules of the purebloods.

They are who they want to be. Because who wouldn't to have the things they have? Do the things they can? Be a Malfoy? Be a Parkinson?

The first time Pansy and Draco met, they looked into each others eyes... and they just knew.

They knew that they shared an affinity that no-one else could possibly hope to understand.

Draco is the only person who can see through the masks Pansy wears. Pansy is the only person that doesn't fall for Draco's lies.

They see each other for what they really are. They know the miserable truth of one another. That they really are horrible, selfish, arrogant people. That they don't care for anyone else. That they can't care for anyone else. But neither holds it against the other.

Because in each other... they see no-one.

And they see themselves.

And that is why their eyes are cold.

Pansy and Draco are a perfect match. They are bound together.

But not through love.

It is a partnership created through selfishness, not loyalty. Because Pansy knows that Draco would discard her in a second, if he could gain from it.

She knows this... because she would do the same to him. It is the way things are done.

It is not love. It is an alliance. And maybe it's better that way. Because love, they are told, is blinding. It is without reason. It is too controlling.

So they are better off without it... they are told.

Pansy and Draco are lucky.

They have everything that money can buy. They have the comforting knowledge of knowing exactly how their futures will turn out. And they are together.

Because there is no-one else for them to be with.
