Right then. Tag to the end of 7.01, "Meet the New Boss." I'm still reeling from it, and trying to do a little selective memory, but it isn't working too well right now. Damn. Dean's POV, and kind of slashy if you squint. Or not. I don't know.

Disclaimer: Dear the people who actually own the rights to our characters and show, I hate you at the moment. Because you went ahead and destroyed the one angel left that we love, and next episode, he's probably going to disappear forever. But hey, whatever, right? The love of fangirls is never enough. So no, I do not own anything. If I did, then I wouldn't have to be writing this and Castiel would be fine and the episode would have ended a minute eariler than it did.

Enjoy!

Looking back, Dean numbly realizes that this was inevitable. He had said so himself that nothing goes right in his life. And yet he had still let hope take root in his heart for that one moment when he had his angel again. He had thought that maybe, just maybe, one thing could go their way. Cas had actually returned to souls to Purgatory, and by some miracle, survived it. Those seconds when Cas wasn't breathing were some of the longest of the hunter's life. Even after everything Cas had did to them, even after everything Dean had told Bobby and Sam about how Cas was lost to them, to him, to see his angel lie dead on the floor shattered his closely guarded heart. But that had been in the past. It didn't matter anymore. Dean's angel was alive. Dean's angel was actually an angel again and not some power crazed God. So yeah, sue him for having some hope that everything would turn out okay. Sue him for thinking that just maybe he and Cas could give this another shot.

But then the Leviathans came. Then the Leviathans took over his angel's body, declaring him dead. And with that crazed, alien grin on his angel's face, Dean had to believe it. His angel was dead. And again, Dean's closely guarded heart shattered. And looking back, Dean could only see this as inevitable.

Alright, I got this off my chest. Hopefully you liked my angry/shocked/reeling glance inside of Dean's head.
