Pokemon training in the Commonwealth seemed like the worst idea. Ever. Yao Guais and Feral Gouls running around attacking each other for fun? Most would say "No thanks, I've had enough radiation for one day."

But in my opinion, Pokemon training in the Commonwealth was the greatest thing to grace this God-forsaken, post-nuclear warzone. These depressed souls with nothing to do in Diamond City but eat noodles served by a robot that spoke one line in a foreign language needed some entertainment. I always aspired to be that one ultimate Master who had his name chanted out amongst the crowd. Jack Angler, the Pokemon Master.

The only think was: I knew nothing about Pokemon.

Since it was relatively new technology - developed by the Institute, no less - not too many people had warmed up to it. In fact, no one in Diamond City besides me had warmed up to it. And considering Institute engineers were virtually impossible to find in the Commonwealth, my dreams would simply remain that. Dreams.

All that changed one day when I ventured out of Diamond City to search for a Legendary Yao Guai. I had finally found one and had been tracking it down for hours when I heard a twig snap behind me. I slowly turned around and was met with the barrel of a 10mm pistol.

The offender holding such a vulgar weapon to my face was a girl, who couldn't have been older than me. She wore a torn dress and had long, dark hair tied back.

"Don't you dare venture any closer," she gritted through her teeth.

I put my hands up defensively. "What do you want him for?"

She cocked the pistol. "What's it to you, scavver?"

"I'm a Pokemon Trainer. Or want to be one, at least. I wanted it." I pulled a Pokeball out of my back pocket and motioned to the Yao Guai.

"Well..." she put the gun down. "So did I."

"You're a trainer?" I asked, dumbfounded.

"Yes," she answered slowly.

I smiled at her. "I'm Jack."

"Hayley." She shook my outstretched hand.

"I suppose you don't want to... I don't know, train with me?" I suggested.

She thought for a moment. "Considering Institute engineers are virtually impossible to find... Sure. I'll train with you."
