Chapter 1
"You two know each other?" Rae looked from Daryl, to the man on the couch, to Daryl again, "Well, aren't you just Mr Popularity."
"Hey," Said Daryl, "I didn't become Mr Popularity until the apocalypse happened."
"Yeah," Said the man, "I know Daryl. The name's Rick Grimes."
"Rae," Rae shook Rick's hand, "So you know the Greenes?"
"Yeah," Rick replied, "Are they here?"
"Upstairs," Said Rae, smiling.
Saphira stepped forward, "I'm Saphira," She said to Rick, "I'm Daryl's…"
"Girlfriend," Rae said, happily, "She's got a bun in the oven"
Daryl glared at Rae. She shrugged and mouthed what?! To him. It really didn't matter if Rick knew that Daryl was gonna be a dad.
"Wow," Said Rae, looking through the fridge "The food we have is really not gonna last with three more people, hey Dixon," She shouted, "I'm gonna go into town. We're low on supplies."
Rae went to the porch and, taking her rifle and her backpack from one of the coat pegs, she walked out of the door. As she walked away from the large wooden house, standing by itself at the edge of the forest, she smiled. This was the first supply run she was doing on her own. Dixon had never let her go alone before, her being only fourteen. Although she'd shouted that she was leaving to him, she didn't think he would approve if he found out.
Rae pushed the sliding glass doors of the grocery store open and walked to the canned food aisle. She took her bag off of her back and put three cans of tomatoes, and was just reaching for some beans, when she heard a noise from behind her. She turned around but saw nothing.
Must be in the next aisle…
Rae raised her rifle and sneaked around to the next aisle. She saw a man, who was maybe in his thirties. He had black short hair ad was loading his own bag with cereal bars. He didn't appear to notice Rae.
"Who are you?" Rae pointed her rifle at him, her finger on the trigger. He stood up. As he reached for his belt, on which he had his own gun holstered, Rae pulled the trigger. There was a click, and she gasped. She's had the safety on. Shit. The man raised his oen gun and Rae backed away from him, into a shelf of soap.
"I could ask you the same question," The man growled. He walked towards Rae, pressing his gun to her chest. Rae glared up at him.
"Who are you? Who are you? Are there more of you? Where is your camp?" He said.
"Th-there's nobody else," Rae stuttered, "It's j-just me."
The man looked closely at the Rae.
"Fine" He pulled the duffle bag over his shoulder, always keeping the gun pointed at Rae. "Come with me."
Rae didn't move. She glared defiantly at him, "Why should I?"
The man looked at her exasperatedly, "Because I'm the one pointing the gun at you, now come on."
Rae followed him obediently. She could try to escape but now, with a man pointing a gun at her, wasn't the time.
