Disclaimer: Dynasty Warriors and its characters are not mine. I'm not receiving any money from writing this story, I'm just a poor ficwriter.
Author: VovĂ´
Pairing: Zhao Yun/Zhou Yu
Warnings: Yaoi.
Word count: 474.
A/N: As you can see, this is a ficlet or shortfic, something like that. I had this idea because I wanted to write about a random pairing. I searched for some random pairing generator, but I didn't find it, so I thought I could write something about Zhao Yun and Zhou Yu, because I can't remember seeing any story with the two of them together. However, it had to be short, because I have two ongoing stories and it's getting difficult to have time for both of them.
Bittersweet Goodbye
The sun was imperiously shining, creating a golden aura over the field. The burning night had come to an end and the ashes of the battle had blown with the morning wind. Zhao Yun stood under a sky that seemed even wider than before, staring at the long-haired strategist. He took a step closer, then another, slowly, until he stood in front of the shorter man.
"So we did it..." Zhao Yun smiled sweetly, that smile that could melt any frozen heart.
"Yes, my friend, we did it, together," Zhou Yu couldn't help but smiling back.
"Together, yes. I think we could change the world if we unite our forces, if we worked together." Zhao Yun looked around and saw the peaceful landscape, as if a battle hadn't happened some hours before. "Cao Cao is heading back to Wei, but he will surely be a treat in the future." He looked back at Zhou Yu. "We could defeat him, if our kingdoms joined forces again."
Zhou Yu stared at the warm brown eyes that shined with the vivacity of the warrior's spirit. He averted his gaze and sighed deeply. "Do you really think so?"
"Of course, I do..." The Tiger officer stared at Zhou Yu in confusion. "Don't you agree?"
"We had a chance in this battle, but we don't know what the future will bring us. Who knows how the wind will blow..." Zhou Yu trailed off before he was surprised by Zhao Yun's move. Warm hands came in contact with his arms and an impossibly handsome face came closer to his.
"I would like it if our kingdoms fought together again. I want to believe we could still win this war and bring peace to this land. I would like to be at your side to see what the wind will bring..." Zhao Yun closed his eyes. "Can you feel it? It's blowing softly right now..." He opened his eyes to look at the most attractive man he had ever met. Leaning in, Zhao Yun captured the slightly parted lips in a tender kiss.
Zhou Yu closed his eyes and felt his body getting warmer because of the sweet demonstration of affection, but he soon put his hands on the Shu warrior's chest, pushing him away gently. "You have the best of intentions and your feelings are like gold, but I'm afraid I can't return them." Zhou Yu stared deeply into the brown eyes, and he was sure he could see the man's soul through them. "I won't forget you gave me this precious moment, but I apologize for only giving you..." He pressed his trembling lips against the other ones in a bittersweet caress. "...this goodbye."
Zhao Yun stood in place, unable to move as he saw the beautiful strategist walking away from him, his long dark hair floating softly with the wind.

A/N: Thank you for reading this crazy idea of mine. I decided to post it before anything happens to my computer... I was so excited writing my stories, but maybe I'll to stop it for a while until I buy a laptop. I hope my computer doesn't stop functioning, so maybe I can post the next chapters of Luck on His Side and A Home for a Pirate. Wish me luck!
