"Lady Artemis," Thalia said kneeling down on her knee to the goddess. Artemis was the queen of the Hunters' and she had granted Thalia the position of her new lieutenant, since the death of Zoe. Thalia could tell that her old lieutenant's death was still nagging on her, but she made no sign of it now as she waved her hand for Thalia to stand.
"Anything to report?" Artemis asked, her auburn hair flicking in the tent's light. It still was taking Thalia time to get used to the thirteen year old form that Artemis had taken. But, living for a couple thousand years probably means you wouldn't look the best. There is a lot of things immortality can do to you.
"Nothing. I would suggest-" Thalia started but Artemis held up her hand.
"Patience, lieutenant. If there is no activity by dawn tomorrow then we shall set forward. I think that this monster might not come forth to us. It is trying to draw us to its lair." Artemis looked deep in thought, her golden eyes concentrating on the floor. Thalia nodded, trying to stop fiddling with her bracelet, Aegis. Since before Thalia joined the Hunters', Artemis had described a drakon that had almost killed every single one of the Hunters'. Their numbers were few back at that time, making it harder to fight the monster but Thalia new that she had not completely proven herself to Artemis. If she could help defeat this drakon she would no longer be considered just the newcomer.
"Would you like me to tell the other girls to pitch the rest of the tents here, malady?" Thalia asked straightening the bow strung across her chest.
"I am afraid that is all we can do, for now. If you would though, Thalia, please tell Phoebe to be prepared for tracking tomorrow. If anyone will be able to find the drakon, it is Phoebe," Artemis says. Thalia turned for the tent flap but before she could leave another person came sprinting out of the darkness. The girl had brown hair wrapped tight up in a bun. Her bow was at the ready and her other hand was resting on an arrow in her quiver. Thalia recognized her as Sydney. Apparently she had joined a few years back.
"Lady Artemis," Sydney panted. "Activity…monsters…we need you straight away." Despite Sydney's intensity Artemis looked calm. She looked at Thalia.
"Wake everyone up if you have to, Thalia, we can't let this happen. A monster cannot defeat us while we are on our quest for the drakon. Hurry!" Thalia nodded curtly and ran out of the tent behind Sydney.
"What are we dealing with here, anyway?" she asked flipping the bow off of her shoulder.
She could barely understand what Sydney's answer was through her consistent panting but when she told her, Thalia raced through all of the pitched tents yelling at girl's to wake up. They needed all the help they could get. They were facing three Minotaurs.
