After the War
She knelt down beside Sasuke, wrapping one of her arms around his neck as she slid her top off her shoulders. She clutched it at her chest to keep from exposing her breasts. "Sasuke…" she whispered, not caring about the onlookers, two of whom were his teammates. She felt the tips of his long bangs tickle her chest. That pink-haired girl was healing the blonde guy, but Sasuke was at his absolute limit.
"Karin…" his said, between his ragged breaths. He coughed, and she stiffened as some of his blood splattered against her.
"Do it," she insisted.
Sasuke grabbed her shoulders to pull her close, biting into the skin along the crook of her neck. Karin released a groan that did nothing for the stares. She began to sink, but Sasuke pulled her against him, continuing to drink her cool, healing chakra.
"Sasu…ke…"
He hesitated, as though tempted to ignore her plea, but instead pulled away, then peered at her with his weary eyes. She could see that his chakra was restored, and the wounds about his body had disappeared. Karin tried to catch her breath, feeling too drained to pull herself off his chest. Sasuke allowed her to stay there for a long while, until she finally managed to detach herself from him.
When Karin looked up, she could see that people were blatantly gawking by then, though some had taken to avoiding looking at them. Karin watched the blonde and pink-haired kunoichi as they awkwardly conversed with Kakashi, both wearing deep blushes on their faces despite their instructor's nonchalance. To think this strange menagerie of shinobi had just managed to end a war. Karin dropped onto her back, still panting as she stared up at the cloudless sky. She did not see Kiba's hanging jaw, or the trail of saliva that trickled from Killerbee's mouth. Instead she reflected on the issue at hand.
Orochimaru had freed her from his services, and she had no affiliation with any shinobi village. What was next for her? A life as a missing nin?
"Are you okay?" said Sasuke. He was still on the ground beside her, his head bowed slightly.
"What do you care?" Karin snapped. She was surprised that she had said it aloud.
"I didn't care – not until ten minutes ago."
Karin was confused by this statement. She glanced at his turned back.
"Ten minutes ago I ran out of things to avenge," said Sasuke.
She could feel her heart start to race. What did that mean? That he had run out of reasons not to lead a normal life? And why was he telling her, of all people? "O-oh," was all she managed, and she hated herself the moment it slipped out of her mouth.
"Come back to Konoha."
A simple invitation, as though it could make up for all the things he had put her through. Karin struggled to maintain her hostility. Sasuke threw an indifferent glance that would have frightened most others, but it only made her blush.
And then she swallowed. "Okay."
"Okay."
