A Gentlemen Never Cries...

It had taken it's toll on him. It had been so long since it had happened on a mangitude like this. Professor Layton sat at his desk in his office. A cup of tea sat before him, but the odd thing was that the tea was ice cold. The cup was almost filled to the brim, but it wasn't like that when it was brought to him. It was like this, because The Professer had been sobbing for the last thirty minutes.

Layton, along with Luke and Flora, and arrived back at the university, after finally foliling Clive's plot for revenge. Luke and Flora were downstairs, allowing Layton to have some priviacy. And then, almost as soon as the door had closed and silence had fallen, he had began to sob. Soon, the sobbing turned to tears, which dripped down his slightly pale cheeks, and upon the desk before him, some falling into the cup of tea Flora had prepared.

She was gone. It was increibly hard for Professor Layton to accept it. He had accepted it ten years earlier, but now that he had seen her again, hugged her, kissed her...He had to go through it all again. He had told Luke once 'A Gentlemen Never Cries'...It appeared that Professor Layton didn't always abide by his gentlmen rules. After a full thirty minutes of sobbing, he reached up and took his hat off, placing it in front of him.

Professor Layton put his head in his hands, struggling to hold back a fresh wave of tears. He had to be strong...That is what Claire would want. A Gentlemen always puts the needs of a lady first. He knew Claire would want this. Pulling his signiture top-hat back upon his head, he pulled out a cloth and wiped his eyes, clearing them of tears. He drained the cold tea (as to not offend Flora), and stood to leave. Just before he left his room, The Professor looked back at a new picture on his desk: A picture of himself and Claire, both smiling at the photographer.

It would be tough to accept that Claire was gone once again, heck, it was hard the first time. But once again, Professor Layton would indure.
Once again, he would silently remember.
Once again, he would remember.
Once again, he would follow his gentlemen guidelines:
A gentlemen never cries in public.
