Bobby knew what he had to do. He had to make things better between him and Alex. This last case had gotten out of control. He had let Nelda in, too far too fast. Bobby wasn't why he had but he knew it was a big mistake. It had taken him months before he had let Alex really know him. Pulling himself out of his thoughts Bobby realized that Alex wasn't at her desk. He vaguely recalled her saying something about copies. If he were going to do this it had to be now. Sliding the deep drawer beside him open Bobby reached in and grabbed the yellow case out. With shaking fingers he unhooked the pin. Shuffling the papers from the middle of Alex's desk Bobby cleared the spot of all debris, the pin couldn't get lost, she had to see it right away.

Alex walked back from the copy room, hands full, to see Bobby head bent hard at work. Getting closer to her desk Alex could tell something was different. All of her files had been moved from the center. Upon seeing what had replaced them Alex felt her throat tighten. Bobby's detective pin sat shining in the center of the clutter. His olive branch. She knew he was watching her, waiting for her reaction. She took the peace offering and quickly hooked it to the left lapel of her suit jacket. Bobby looked up at her then, smiling but saying nothing verbally, they didn't need to say anything out loud. Alex had accepted his apology. They would be ok.
