Janet had gotten up with the baby for the past three nights. Daniel thought it was only fair to let her sleep through this one. As he heated the bottle Daniel reflected on how much his life had changed in the last two years. From nearly losing Janet to having a three month old baby he didn't think life could get any better.

"Hannah Jane how did I ever make it this far?" Daniel asked the happily feeding baby. Laughing to himself as she gurgled at him trying to answer. Daniel made quick work of burping Hannah so he could finish feeding her with minimal fuss. Fatherhood agreed with Daniel, every day was a new adventure watching this bundle of energy grow into a person. It was amazing and Daniel intended to make the most of every day with Hannah.

She had finished the bottle and was fussing Daniel had started a slow shift from one foot to the other like he had seen Janet do so many times in the past to calm the baby. It wasn't working. For the life of him Daniel couldn't remember the song Janet sang that did the trick no matter how fussy Hannah got.

"Here give her to me. Go back to bed you have an early briefing, and you know how Jack gets if you are late." Janet said tying the sash on her robe and taking the baby.

"I was hoping not to wake you Janet. You need your sleep too." Daniel said ever the worrying husband.

"It's not a problem really I don't have to be to the mountain till around ten. I'll be fine, go." Janet said playfully swatting Daniel on the shoulder.

Nearing the door Daniel heard Janet start to sing.

"Goodnight, sleep tight. No more tears. In the morning I'll be here. And when we say good night, dry your eyes. Because we say goodnight, and not goodbye. We say goodnight and not goodbye." Slowly rocking the baby in time to the haunting melody Janet knew Hannah would be asleep in no time. As she continued to sway Janet realized not for the first time just how lucky she was. Surviving a staff weapon blast and finally getting her head out of her ass to tell Daniel how she felt. They had gotten their act together quickly enough and had a small wedding in the Gate room attended by only those who mattered. Then to top off her already perfect life three months ago she had Hannah. Janet was content. Laying the once again sleeping baby in her crib Janet made sure the blanket was secure and quietly left the room. Making quick work of getting back into bed Janet carefully curled into Daniel's side kissing him before laying her head on his chest and falling asleep.
