Disclaimer: If I owned Pokémon, then why would I be writing fan fiction?
Yo all. I wouldn't necessarily call this my first fic published on this site, but it's my first Pokémon fic. Brace thyselves for the horror.
To say Celebi was irritated was an understatement.
While the Lotad happily danced in puddles in the downpour, the Time Travel Pokémon was stuck in a hollow of a tree that had been recently inhabited by a family of Hoothoot. Whenever she tried to fly out into the rain, the heavy rainfall beat down on her. Celebi contemplated traveling back in time so as to avoid this situation, but was too tired to do so. She sneezed as a feather found its way underneath her nose.
Celebi cursed, and after hearing another chorus of the Lotad's horrible yodeling, she began banging her head against the inside of the tree, but the shrieking stopped suddenly. Everything was quiet, for the other sounds of the forest were eerily still. Only the sound of the rain slamming against the earth could be heard. Celebi's eyes widened as a pink silhouette zipped through the rain.
"CCCCCEEEEEELEEEEEEEBBBIIII!" the thing screamed as it crash landed in the hollow, stirring up feathers. Celebi sneezed and looked up to see Mew, sitting up and rubbing his head. A pouch was hanging from his neck.
"What in the name of Arceus are you doing here? I thought I forbid you to enter the forest after the whole whip cream incident with the Ursaring!"
"I know, I know, but I have a good reason this time! Also, I swear that wasn't me that did that! I was looking for you, but you weren't in your usual spot, so I set out to look for you to deliver something." Celebi looked doubtful.
"Have you forgotten that it's your birthday, Celebi?" Mew asked. The fairy-like Pokémon snorted.
"After a billion years, Mew, I stopped caring." Mew visibly drooped, disappointed that he had messed up yet again.
"I got you something anyway." He took off the pouch and threw it to Celebi. She turned it over, curious.
"Regirock has anomalies every now and then. He usually just breaks them off and throws them away, but I asked him for this one. It reminds me of you somehow." Celebi opened the pouch and a gem fell into her hand. It was teardrop shaped and mostly grass-green, except at the tip which had a faint blue tinge.
"Wow…"She turned it over and over in her hands, admiring it in the dim light.
"Do you like it?" Mew asked excitedly. She nodded.
"There's one problem, though."
"What?"
"My birthday isn't for another five months." Mew looked clearly embarrassed, "It's still a nice gift, thank you." A ray of sunlight chose to escape the barrier of the clouds just then, and the storm cleared.
"Well, I guess I had better be going. And Celebi…"
"Yes?"
"Sorryabouttheexplosion." Mew blurted out and zoomed away. Celebi processed the sentence and chased after Mew, screaming,"You're gonna die, Mew!"
