A warm wind swept through the elementary school playground as a group of first graders played tag. Suddenly shots were fired as a spray of bullets lit up the playground.
Elliot Stabler was sitting at his desk finishing his morning cup of coffee when he got the call. He left a message for Liv to meet him at the hospital and headed out.
Elliot walked up to the front desk of the hospital. "Hi, I'm Detective Elliot Stabler. I'm here to investigate the school shooting that happened this morning."
"Detective Stabler, I'm Dr. Kinder will you come with me please." The doctor said as she beckoned him to follow her.
"It's all so tragic" She started.
"How many casualties?" Elliot asked as he followed her down the hall.
"Five" the doctor said solemnly.
Elliot stopped, "My God.."
Dr. Kinder motioned to a room. "One little girl however was lucky, bullet only grazed her arm. She needed eleven stitches. She's in here."
Elliot enter the hospital room to find a little blond girl with wavy hair in bed.
"Hi, I'm Elliot. What's your name?" Elliot asked the girl.
"Everlyn" the girl said.
"That's a pretty name" Elliot said, "How old are you Everlyn?"
"Seven" Everlyn said.
"Well listen Everlyn I'm a detective and I'm here to help you." Before Elliot could finish his sentence Everlyn leaned over and graded a little note pad and pen on the table by her bed and quickly wrote something down and handed it out to Elliot.
Elliot took it, "What's this?"
"It's the license plate of the blue truck I saw speeding away after I got shot." Everlyn said matter-of-factly.
She must have seen the confused look on Elliot's face for she spoke again. "My mom's a detective and every time there's a car involved in a crime she always asked her witnesses if they got a look at the license plate."
Just then the door open. "Ever!"
Everlyn's little face lit up, "Mommy!"
Elliot turned around just in time as the woman rushed passed him to her daughter. Elliot had to blink for he almost couldn't believe his eyes... Before him embracing the little girl was someone he hadn't seen in a long long time... Detective Dani Beck.
