The days were long, the nights unbearable.
He thought of the days of laughter, when he would look into her brown eyes and see love and affection.
Her laugh haunts his dreams; he yearned to hold her in his arms.
Pictures weren't enough. They captured only a moment; only a quick flash of a smile or a mischievous look in her eyes.
He could look into her eyes for eternity.
The days had grown dark. The laughter had faded away; the light in her eyes started to burn out.
He would do anything to make her happy again. Even if it meant him leaving for awhile.
So he left. He left to accomplish his destiny. A destiny that would bring back the laughs and the sparkle in her eyes.
He knew it was for the best, but leaving felt wrong. He just wanted to be there, with her. To make her smile, or even just to joke around with.
But life had other plans for him. Although heartbreaking, he knew what he had to do.
So he left.
Not a night went by where he didn't dream of her, didn't imagine her by his side.
And then, it was all over. He had won.
She ran to him and put her arms around him. When they broke apart, he looked down. And when green met brown, the world finally made sense again.
