Truth and Dare

Summary: Against all odds, they were the best of friends. Against all odds, they became something more. Scorose one-shot.
The girl looked up from her Transfiguration textbook to the boy before her. "I think it's time for a break." Behind her journal, Rose hid a smile. "Truth or dare, Scorpius."
It wasn't a question, because both knew that it was a command. The ups and downs of their relationship had been sorted out, more or less, in the five years that they had known each other. They still fought – what Malfoy and Weasley never fought? – but they knew it was a playful sort of teasing, since they were the best of friends anyway and wouldn't want anyone else.
"Dare," he answered confidently. The Head Girl wouldn't say something too bad. That was the amount of trust he had in her – they were nigh inseparable.
"Hmm…" She tapped the blank page slowly. "I dare you to recite the second paragraph of page three hundred seventy one of our Defense textbook."
"I thought we were taking a break, though."
"Scorpius? I order you to recite page three hundred seventy one of our Defense textbook."
He cursed internally. She'd just increased the amount, and he had to do what she said, because he was under a spell. Well, it wasn't as bad as the Imperius because he had to agree to it of his own volition first, and she was under it too. They'd done such a thing (which actually seemed stupid now) to help preparations for their O. so neither could run away from their worst subjects.
"…when in such a situation, it is wisest to back away slowly without breaking eye contact with the beast…"
He inhaled. One more paragraph to go.
"…and only in dire emergencies."
The girl nodded. "Okay, your turn."
"Truth or dare, Rose?"
"Truth."
He tried to keep the corners of his mouth from turning up. "What's the lowest score you've ever gotten on a test, and for which one?"
He was playing with fire. He was asking for war. She couldn't refuse. Such was the problem with trusting your best friend with complete power over you.
She simply had to settle for glaring. "Poor, for the third year Divination exam."
No matter, she'd pay him back in kind. "Truth or dare, Scorpius?" she asked, a diabolical smirk on her face. She was feeling particularly irate from sleep deprivation.
He glanced from left to right nervously. "Dare…?"
"I dare you to go up to the girl you like and confess."
He gaped. That was a truth and dare wrapped in one. He tried to resist, but the spell moved his body across the table.
Her eyes, a beautiful blue the color of the ocean, widened.
He kissed her.
"I love you, Rose."
