Why do we like to hurt so much?

Oh, sad, innocent boy. How could you do this to her? Taking her world in hands that have never lifted anything heavier than a cup of tea and flipping it upside down. No, not upside down. On an axis, just so everything is a little out of sorts. Are you too weak to turn it back in the right direction? Or just too proud?

If only you could see her now. It's amazing what a small rotation can do to a person, isn't it?

When she leaves the room, she turns the lights on. Her eyes can't tell the difference between light and dark anymore. Life is inverted on this backwards planet.

When she draws the hearts, she colors them black. Is she thinking of you, in her twisted little reality? If she writes your name in the hearts, no one can see it.

She used to smile with her heart. You used to see it in her eyes. Now, she smiles with her mouth. She's the dictionary definition of happy.

That's what you wanted, isn't it? For her to be happy. You couldn't stand the ways that you hurt her. So you locked her here, in this universe, where everything is rotated. Where everything she does is on an axis.

Oh, sad, cruel boy. How could you do this? She's not the same now, in this redundant reality. You told her it would end like this.

That's what you get when you let your heart win.

A/N: I know, loves. It's been a while. Sorry! I'm actually quite absorbed with a Gerard Way fiction right now... Don't hate me for it!

Anyway, I think some thanks are in order! My eternal love to Liv, Shannon, Eve, and FairyHunter for all of the loverly nominations. It's pretty much just setting in :) Anyway, you guys rock, as do all of my readers! And some more love to Liv for betareading this for me!

Disclaimer: Eoin Colfer owns the characters. The lyrics in italics from the beginning and the end of the fiction are from the song That's What You Get by Paramore.
