Stiles had always had an issue with people. He never really liked the thought of getting too close to someone because the last time he did that, she died. His best friend was gone forever. He'd never see her again. She may have been his mother but she was the only one that he could tell everything to. Once she got sick his world was flipped upside down. Sure Scott was always there for him, but he could never fill the void that his mother belonged to.

That night in the hospital was the worst. Stiles had just turned 16 and for his birthday all he got was his mother on her death bed. The cancer had spread from her stomach throughout her intestines and kidney's. She started dialysis that day but it was too late. All Stiles and his father, John, could do was wait. Wait for that moment when the best person the two of them had ever known, would just be gone, forever.

Stiles walked out of the room and headed toward the vending machine to get a Reese's. He passed the corner next to the machine, inserted his dollar and pressed the I key. The chocolate treat began to move forward in the coil before getting stuck at the edge. Stiles hit the side of the machine, but nothing. As he hit the machine again he heard commotion coming from the other side of the corner down the hallway where his mother was.

No, please! No! He thought to himself as he rounded the corner. Doctors with machines raced into his mother's room. His dad was backed out by Melissa McCall. "Just let the doctors work John. They can't have you in there right now, and Penny wouldn't want you to see her like that."

Stiles ran toward the room, only to be grabbed by his dad. His mother had wires and tubes sticking out of her chest. "Mom, please wake up," Stiles screamed as the doctors began to shock her for the 4th time.

"Call it," one of them said as the monitor showed no signs of a heartbeat. "Midnight, April 14," said another doctor in response.

Stiles feel in his dad's arms as tears began to pour down his face. Lydia, Jackson, Scott, Isaac, Erica, Boyd, Allison, and Derek stood up from their seats in the waiting room, as they heard their pack mate mourn his mother's death.
