This is my first story on so I hope you guys like it.

Balthier: It's a true story, I've been stealing from the rich and famous since I was three.

Sure you have.

Balthier: Really, I even remember what I stole.

What was it then?

Balthier: Sweets, of course. And the ladies' hearts.

Random fangirls and one lone guy scream

Balthier: Who the hell's that guy?

No idea. Anyways, take it away, Balthier!

Balthier: Seint does not own Final Fantasy XII, Square Enix does. If he did, however, I'd be the lead character because Vaan can't do crap without me.

One lone guy screams

Balthier: We have security... Right?

I hope so...

Prologue: Thief in the Night

The sky above was dark, outlined with the extravagant Archades buildings giving the city a claustrophobic feel. A few taxis flew to their destinations, while a dozen or so people made their way home.

Except for two.

A sixteen-year-old Balthier trailed after a wary older man, a noble by his looks, through the lighted streets. The man glanced around nervously before continuing. Balthier sighed in relief that the man did not see him.

The man climbed the steps of a high-classed building and knocked on the door. A young, pretty girl answered and whispered something into the man's ear. Balthier darted into an alley right beside the house and listened into the conversation.

The girl's voice was loud enough for Balthier to hear what she said "...how does three-thousand gil for one hour sound, senator-"

The man swore quietly. "Shhh! I'd prefer to keep my job, you stupid girl!"

In the alley, Balthier grinned slightly. So, he's a senator... Even better.

Flustered, the senator rushed into the house and loudly slammed the door behind him, locking the door firmly.

Balthier slid across around the wall and crouched down beside the steps for a moment. He reached his hand in front of the door and lightly pecked on it, keeping his other hand on his Altair gun, in the case he would need it if the senator had any bodyguards with him.

When no one answered, he took out a wire and stuck it into the keyhole. He wiggled it around until a small click was heard. Grabbing the doorknob carefully, he delicately turned it and shuffled inside.

Balthier looked around the cramped hallway, dark from the drawn curtains at one window. He examined a long table to his right. A small pouch of gil made a slight jingle when he lifted it and stuck it in his back pocket.

Giggle… Balthier froze as he heard the girl giggling in the next room. Suddenly, a shot rang out in the streets. Silently, though quickly, he slid out through the door and back into the streets. In the alleyway, Balthier pulled out his Altair and ran back into the darkness to find the source of the shot.

"What the hell was that?" He muttered to himself.

"He… Help me…"

Who was that? Balthier franticly scanned around and, after his eyes had adjusted to the alley's abyssal darkness, did he find the owner of the plea.

Once I have a grand total of two reviews, I'll post up the next chapter. Thank for reading!
