Blood

Summary: Hunter and Blake make the most important pact of their lives.

Dedication: To my 'sisters' Cami, Ti and Syd…you guys know who you are!

Blake Bradley sighed as he looked around the nearly empty apartment he shared with his brother. Tomorrow morning Hunter would be leaving for the Thunder academy; two days later Blake would be leaving for the factory blue tour. It was starting to sink in; after all these years of being together the two brothers would finally be separated. Blake didn't even want to think about it.

"Maybe this is for the best." Came Hunter's voice from behind him.

"How so?" Blake asked, his voice choking up on hearing his brother say that.

"Well, we've been together all these years maybe the time apart will be just what we need. It'll teach us to be more independent."

"Maybe…" Blake trailed off, suddenly spotting the knife in Hunter's hand. "Hunter? You're not cutting again are you?" he asked, remembering when his brother had used to cut all the time.

"What? Oh no." Hunter said remembering the knife in his hand. "No. Actually, I had an idea."

"That involves a knife? I'm afraid to ask." Blake replied, raising an eyebrow warily.

Hunter laughed. "Relax." He reassured him. "No. Have you ever heard of blood pacts?"

Blake frowned. "You mean like bonding yourself to someone by blood? Why?"

"I want us to make a blood pact." Hunter told him.

"Are – are you sure, Hunter? You've always been queasy at the site of blood."

"I'm positive." Hunter told him. "Blake, we've always been brothers and nothing is ever going to change that, we will always be brothers. But this is something I've been thinking about a lot lately."

"Alright then, if you're sure. Let's do it." Blake said, moving over to make room on the couch he was now sitting on.

Hunter sat down next to him and held the knife in one hand. Closing his eyes tightly for a brief second he pressed the cold blade against a vein on the underside of his wrist. He winced at the brief pain then opened his eyes and looked down to see the fresh cut, blood starting to trickle down his arm. "Can you do it?" he asked, holding the knife out to Blake.

Blake nodded and took the knife from his brother. He pressed the blade against the vein on the underside of his wrist without even wincing. "Now what?" he asked as the blood started trickling down his arm.

"We do this." Hunter told him, holding his wrist over his brother's and letting his blood drip into Blake's open cut.

Blake then did the same thing, letting his blood drip into Hunter's open cut.

Hunter grabbed a couple Kleenex, handed one to Blake then wiped his own cut. He turned to his brother. "We may not have been born brothers Blake, but we now have each other's blood flowing through our veins. We are now blood brothers, now and forever."

"Now and forever." Blake repeated.

A/N: I'm pretty sure that's not how you do that but hey, I've never actually done it though I know it can be done. But the idea was inspired last night (with a completely different plot line, I might add, this one just struck while I was in the shower and demanded to be written) so I had to write it. So I hope everyone enjoyed it. Evil plot bunnies must die!
