Bad Day

Inspired by the song by Fuel with the same title. Mara has a series of bad days where nothing seems to go right. She takes it out on Luke and this his how he feels.

Disclaimer: Luke and Mara do not belong to me. Callista (cue shudder) doesn't either. The song Bad Day is the property of Fuel. I love Fuel. But if the owners of these characters would like to give them to me, I'm sure I could put them to good use. I need a baby sitter or three.

Bad Day

Luke Skywalker

/Had a bad day again/She said I would not understand/She left a note and said I'm sorry I/ Had a bad day again/

It had been happening for weeks now. Mara was hardly ever around anymore. She was mostly alone to keep from fighting with him. And how he hated to see her upset. Luke Skywalker sat alone on his balcony, watching the busy city nightlife, and thinking of his one true love. The note she left was crumpled in his hand and it said the same thing each note before it had. She had a bad day.

/She spilled her coffee, broke a shoes lace/She smeared the lipstick on her face/ She left a note and said I'm sorry I/ Had a bad day again/

When she was home, they fought. When she was away, he cried. Nothing seemed to be happily ever after anymore. They used to be happy, but now Mara was becoming distant. She was becoming secluded. They couldn't comfort each other anymore. He wondered what he'd done. What was wrong? Why was this happening to their love? Were they in love anymore?

"We can't keep this up," he thought out loud.

/And she swears there's nothing wrong/I hear her playing that same old song/ she puts me up and puts me on/ and had a bad day again/she said I would not understand/ left a note and said I'm sorry I/had a bad day again/

He couldn't bare it anymore. He didn't want this love to end like all the others. He had to confront Mara and let her know how he felt. If worse came to worse he'd force her to explain things too him. She had up good shields and it broke his heart every time she walked in the door of their apartment. Not just that they were fighting, but because she was so upset, he couldn't bare it. He wiped away falling tears, only to have then replaced with new ones. He stood up and walked back into the apartment.

/she said I would not understand /she left a note and said I'm sorry I / had a bad day again/ and she swears there's nothing wrong/ I hear her playing that some old song/ she puts me up and puts me on/ and had a bad day again/

Mara walked in the door quietly in the hopes her husband was asleep. She set her things down on the table and noticed the balcony door open. She went to shut it, smiling slightly at the carelessness of her beloved. As she turned from sliding it shut, she looked beyond her to the recliner in the corner. There sat Luke, a blank stare etched on his face.

"Hey ya' farm boy," she said casually.

Luke gave a small smirk and that was it. "We need to talk Mara."

When he didn't tease her back, she knew it was serious. She frowned and sat across from him on the couch. His gaze didn't change, but she could feel and see how saddened and frustrated he was.

"I'm sorry Luke," she began. "things, they've been weird lately. It has nothing to do with you or us. I'm just having some weird things going on now, just because of being sick and pregnant. I haven't been much fun lately, and I'm so very sorry."

Luke's expression lightened some. He came over and wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her as she cried. "You can talk to me you know."

"I will next time Luke, I promise." She cried.

"I love you Mara, and I always will."

"I love you too Luke."

/Left a not and said I'm sorry I/ Had a bad day again/
