Hello, all! This isn't my first time writing but I am still pretty new at writing fanfiction. The first few chapters will mainly be a backstory of my oc and how her and Toshinori met. Please leave me feedback/criticism. All kinds are accepted here. Please note that I don't own anyone/anything aside from my oc's (and my story plot line.) Also, to my previous readers, I rearranged my story and have combined my last chapters 3&4 together as of 5/4/19.

Crimson Gloom
Black smoke filled the burning apartment building. Tears ran down her ashen face as she breathed slowly. The air was coarse. All around the pair were sea of flames in vivid colors of orange and red, a little white and blue mixed in. A piece of the ceiling fell down next to them, making the fire go haywire and scorching the child's shoulder and back.
"Okaa-san…" She clenched her teeth in pain. The small child tried dragging her mother. She cried out in frustration, trying her hardest to tug the grown woman she called mother.
"Miu…" Her mother crawled, trying to use the rest of her energy. Her mother's face and body were badly charred, her hair singed and her scalp dark black. She had been right next to the explosion when it had happened. Its eruption had caused the building it's poor demise.
"Miu, r-run.." Her poor mother managed out, breath ragged. Shaking her head, the child continued on, trying to find an exit from the flaming structure. The fire crackled loudly around the two. The ceiling above them slowly cracking. Pushing her daughter away, the ceiling collapsed on top of the already damaged woman.
Terrified cries escaped the child as she tried to run back to her mother. "O-Okaa-san!" A vast wall of fire blocking her from continuing to her injured mom. Tears ran down rapidly as she heard her mother screaming in agony, the fire ablaze atop of her.
"There! I-It's a child!" Miu heard from behind her.
"You idiot, hurry up and grab her! We gotta go before this building collapses!" Another voiced from afar.
Panicked cries came out of her mouth as she was whisked away, being carried by someone.
"N-No! Okaa-san! She's still in there!" Miu tried to pry the man's hands off of her. It was no use, Miu stared at the fiery flame sweltering all around building. She was outside now, the clear darkened night sky up ahead of her head. She continued shaking her head, her voice lost in her cries. The man put her down and held her hand as she tried to run back in.
"W-Woah! Wait, you can't go back in!" He screamed in frustration at the child.
Her mother.
Tears were pouring down her dirtied face. Soot covered her from head to toe. The ends of her hair were singed, and her shoulder and back ached from the burns.
Her poor mother.
She drew a shaky breath, her tears still flowing down like streams. Her watery glare hardened at the raging fire. Blood ran down from her nose as she furrowed her eyebrows together. The darkened clear sky soon became engulfed with dark clouds. Rain dripped on her skin. It's soft pitter patter turned into violent globs within seconds. It's sudden downpour caught the firefighters off guard as the violent wind and water extinguished the fire. Her grip on the man's hand tightened as he looked at the terrified child. His eyes widened as he saw her eyes turn pure white, blood dripping from her nose and eyes.
"H-Help!" He screamed out. The firefighters struggled to look as the harsh winds and water slapped their faces. A hero who had just arrived at the scene observed the little one, his eyes staring intensely at her own whitened eyes.
A flash of yellow and white appeared behind the man and girl as he rendered her unconscious with a hit to the back of her neck. The ferocious globs of water settled down, pitter pattering slowly before dissipating. The darkened night sky soon became clear once again. The smoke from the once burning building rose up, it's leftover remains cooling down from the fire. The last thing the little one saw was the sprinkling rain and smoked building before darkness took over her.
"O-Okaa-san…."
Gran Torino looked up in amazement as the weather cleared. His eyes casted down to the sleeping child in his arms. Had she been the one that brought forth the rain? It made sense, after he had knocked her out the violent storm went away.
The man who had been standing with the dirtied girl saluted Gran Torino.
"Gran Torino, sir!"
Nodding his head in acknowledgement he carried the little one to the ambulance.
"Sir, we can take the injured here!" Medical staff appeared near him, examining the injured girl.
He gave them the little one before walking back to help with the other heroes. Turning back he stared at the girl as they rolled her into the ambulance. Her face looked peaceful as she slept.
He shook his head to himself. "So young." He thought grimly.
Miu's eyes fluttered open, light peeking from behind the curtain. She sat up in her lonesome bed and glanced around her room. It was now breaking dawn. Groaning in frustration she laid back down. Her mind wandered to her younger years as she thought about her beloved mother. Tears sprang forth as she wiped them away. She had been dreaming about the past for a few weeks now, it's memory haunting her.
A knock sounded on her door, "Miu? Wake up, my dear. It's time for school!" Her grandfather opened the door.
"Ojii-sama, I am awake." Miu got up and sat on her bed. Her grandfather sighed as he saw his teary-eyed granddaughter.
"Bad dream?" He sat next to her, wrapping his frail arms around the girl. She sniffled before hugging him in return, enjoying the comfort. He was the only family member she had left.
"I'm ok. Thank you, Ojii-sama."
Patting her back he got back up. His light steps tapping against the bare floor as he walked out the door. "Breakfast is ready. Hurry before it gets cold." He closed the door gently. She listened to his footsteps as he descended the steps towards the kitchen.
Taking in a deep breath of air, Miu stood. She slipped off her nightgown and walked to the full-length mirror by her dresser. Opening her eyes, she examined her burn scar on her shoulder. Her lips pursed together as she eyed the nasty scar. The burn on her back healed nicely as a child, but on her right shoulder it stayed permanently. The doctor had said that her shoulder got hit the harshest with the fire.
Taking another deep breath, she walked away from the mirror. "Has it already been 10 years?" She closed her eyes, stopping its tears from falling. Shaking her head to rid her of her thoughts, she slipped on her uniform. Today was the first day of her new school.
After their breakfast together, her grandfather walked her down the steep hill. They lived uphill together, this huge house she grew up in was also home to a Taekwondo dojo. Half of the bottom floor was a dojo, the other half resided a kitchen and living room which connected to a yen garden. The top consisted of 2 small bedrooms and a small bath.
Reaching the bottom of the steps, they parted ways. Her grandfather stood and waved as he watched her silhouette disappear among the horizon. A sigh escaped his lips as he watched his one and only beloved granddaughter leave for school. Today was her first day at U.A. High. Though she was only going for General Studies, he couldn't help but feel proud of his granddaughter for being able to attend the grand school. His eyes became watery. "She's growing up too fast…."
"E-EH? SENSEI? WHY ARE YOU CR-?"
The grandfather's pupil never got a chance to finish what he was saying as he had kicked the young lad comically into the bushes.
"E-Erm…" Miu glanced around her as she walked through the school building entrance. She was utterly and hopelessly lost. "E-Excuse me…" She tapped the shoulder of a tall student. He had been the only one around close to her that she could walk up to.
Toshinori turned around from his locker, his eyes looking at the one who tapped him on his shoulder. Staring down at the short girl, his blue eyes eyed her up and down.
"New?" He questioned.
Miu nodded quietly.
"And lost?" He stared down at her.
She held up her schedule for him to see, a blush creeping on her face. Toshinori laughed lightly before speaking. "It's all right. U.A. High is pretty big. C'mon." He started walking. "I'll show you around as I walk you to class."
Walking quietly behind him, she stared all around her, trying to take in as much information as she could.
"So, restrooms are right here by the entrance and lockers. If you take a right on that hall you'll end up in the cafeteria." She stared at all the rooms he pointed to.
"And up here is the gym, the concert hall is to the left of that hall. The courtyard is right up there to the right, opposite of the concert hall."
Toshinori glanced back at the quiet girl, "Sooooo, class 1-G. General studies, right?" She sped up her pace to walk beside him.
"Y-Yes." She spoke meekly. "I'm here to just study and learn about how my quirk can help around in today's modern world."
Miu looked at him from the corner of her eyes. They reached Miu's homeroom. Turning to show her where her class was, he introduced himself.
"Ahh. I'm in the Hero course. Class 3-A."
"C-Cool." She mumbled quietly. She really didn't care about what class he was but she didn't want to be rude either. Afterall she was the one to ask him directions.
"Anyways, I'm Yagi Toshinori." He sweatdropped at her one worded reply. "She really doesn't talk much…"
"Kobayashi Miu…" She bowed politely as she entered her classroom. Toshi grew a tick on his head as he watched the short girl enter her homeroom. Sighing in defeat he headed towards his own room. "Unappreciative brat."
The day went on as normal, the lectures the same as junior high. Miu stared out the window of her 5th period class. The 3rd Years we're outside for gym. Blonde hair caught her attention as she saw the man who helped her to class this morning. She stared at him as he ran around doing laps. "What was his name again…" She looked upon his face as he turned in her direction, she took note of his weird hairstyle, it's bangs parted evenly on his face.
Turning her attention back to the sensei, she shrugged off his name. Not thinking she'll ever cross paths with him.
The bell rang for the end of school and Miu left to go to her locker. She switched out her shoes. Her mind eager to return home and relax. As she slipped on her flats she noticed the same blonde standing out the door. Ignoring him, she walked past and towards the front gate.
"Ah! Miu-san. Wait up!" A sweatdrop appeared on her forehead as she turned around.
"I was thinking we could walk together. Since you're new I'd like to personally welcome you to U. A. High. Besides, it seems like you could use a new friend, I promise I won't bite!" He grinned with a thumb up. She nodded silently and walked away. Quietly saying an "ok". Maybe if he walked with her today he'd stop bothering her.
"Maybe I should ask for his name since I forgot it."
They walked together in silence, him right behind her. As they neared the shopping district he pointed to a convenience store. "Let's get something to snack on."
Miu bit her lips, "I don't have money on me today. I'll wait outside for you."
Toshinori shrugged and walked into the store, right before he entered he stared back at her, making sure she didn't walk off without him. He bought two salmon onigiris for them and rushed back out. Miu sat by the bench near the playground and water fountain, waiting for him to come back. Her looked at her feet, it barely reached the floor.
"Here you go." He handed her a rice ball. Miu stared at her hands in awe as her stomach growled.
"Y-You didn't have to…" she thanked him quietly and began unwrapping the plastic. Toshi sat next to her in the bench, leaning back to enjoy the snack. The two watched as children around them played and people walked by. He looked at her munching away happily. Her feet swinging as she ate. "She's kinda… cute."
"Ne, Toshinori-san." He turned his head back towards her. "Shit, did I get caught?"
"Why do you want to become a hero?" Her almond golden eyes stared upon his, catching him off guard.
"I-I, I want to preserve society from evil. I will become the Symbol of Peace and shine a light on the world." He stood up and raised his fist into the air. He looked back to Miu, her face void of any emotion. He sat back down, feeling a little embarrassed.
Miu's face held no emotion as he explained himself. A small snort came out of her mouth before she laughed out loud, surprising Toshinori that she could even be loud. "Hahaha, you're weird!"
Toshinori sweatdropped at the comment.
"But," She stopped laughing, a small smile on her lips. "That's quite chivalrous of you." She hopped up from the bench and tilted her head backwards to him. "You'll be a great hero."
"Thank you for the onigiri." She waved before sprinting home.
Toshinori stood in awe at the compliment as he watched her run away. "Thank you." He said aloud to no one.
