Inside the Kill House
"He'll kill you man." Frank's words echoed in Matt's head as he entered the darkness of the kill house.
"What are you in love with her?" Matt's eyes adjusted to the blackness as he thought about Frank's question. Was he really in love with her? No, it was just sex. Sex he desperately wanted to continue.
Matt crept down the hallway oblivious to the HRT man sneaking around the corner. Duff grinned, "Got ya!" He fired one shot off as the negotiator jumped around the corner checking his wound.
"That's one." Matt thought cursing under his breath that Emily had invaded his thoughts and distracted him.
"One down, two to go!" Duff shouted as he rounded the corner just in time to see Matt duck behind the island.
Matt's breath was heavy as he pressed his back hard against the cupboards. He hoped he and Emily would patch things up. That's when he felt the three paintballs hit his front shoulder in rapid succession.
Duff chuckled, "One more chance Flannery!"
Matt scurried out of the room, mumbling under his breath. Why was he doing this? That's right, Duff called Emily a name. The things a man did to defend the woman he loved. Love? Matt was loosing his mind. Could he really be in love with her after only three months? He may not know the answer to that, but he did know one thing, he would nail Duff this time. He would not let anyone say things like that about his Emily. His Emily, now she would have something to say about that phrase.
Matt peeked around the corner, his eyes scanning the dark room for his adversary. Matt carefully turned the corner opening himself up to paintball fire from behind. Duff was in a hidden corner of the room. He fired several rounds at Matt's back hitting him in the back.
The lights came on and Matt could see Duff grinning. Frank and others from HRT came in laughing at Matt's incompetence due to a certain red-head.
"Well Flannery, it looks to me like we got our answer." Frank joked.
Matt rolled his eyes and walked away realizing that maybe this is love. He needed to find her and talk to her right away. Matt didn't care anymore; he only cared about letting her know that he wanted whatever this was.
Matt shot an annoyed glance at Duff as he stormed out of the basement to the guys singing, "Flannery and Lehman sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g."
