Chapter 1
We were all hanging out at my place today, we being the pack. Billy was in the kitchen watching the game, while me and the pack sat playing an old Nintendo 64 game in my ridiculously small den. Which appeared even smaller considering there were 5 overly sized teenage boys present, well 4, Sam is 20 already. Since I only had two controllers we took turns, right now Jared and Paul were getting ready to play.
"You stand a chance Jared, before the pack started, this is what Paul did with his life." Embry said.
"You wanna bet, $10 says I beat him" said Jared.
"You're on."
After a quick 2 or 3 minutes Jared had beaten Paul. Jared then looked over at Embry with his hand out, "Pay up."
"Uhh… I owe you." Embry, always looking to make bets, but never actually having the money to pay up, said.
"I won't forget." Jared said.
After Jared and Paul's conversation, the pack headed outside, getting ready to get back home. That is, until we walked out the screen door and a horribly, sweet smell burned all our noses. Which only meant one thing, there was a vampire, not too far from La Push, in some woods of our neighboring town Forks. We didn't talk or mention the fact that there was a leech, because we've been through this many times already as a pack. Then, we all instinctively phased and ran through the woods, and my fellow packs' thoughts ran through my mind.
Hell yes! I was waiting for one to show up today, I've been getting bored for awhile. Jared thought.
I hear yah Jared. Thought Paul.
Sam, however, had no thoughts of enthusiasm like the rest of us. Even as a wolf you could see the emotion across his face. And I didn't like what I saw. He looked uncomfortable, it was obvious he was hiding something, thinking about anything but. He could hear my questioning thoughts about him, but still, he did not answer, he ignored my questioning thoughts and continued to run.
We then arrived in Forks, we were just at the foot of the woods when I smelled her trail. The girl who was going to be attacked, but it was a familiar scent to my nose. Kind of floral, and sweet, not like vampires, but, sweet. It was a scent I've been smelling quite frequently these days. Except for this week, because of the whole werewolf situation. I let out a huge, angry howl. So this is what Sam had been covering, he already knew who was fated to be attacked, I gave him a death glare, cursing him for not telling me that it was Bella. My Bella. Then I took off, my legs moving the fastest they could possibly go.
