A/N: I found this on my desk. I had written it last year for class after reading the Odyssey .
11 years after the war with Troy began, 1 year since the war ended.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters they are all of Homers.
My Beloved Odysseus,
My heart aches for you, there are rumors the war has ended and I wait for your return. Eleven years have passed and you are not yet in my loving embrace. I worry you may never return to me, for there is no word of you survival. I weep every moment, in fear I will never see your handsome face. I pray to the goddess Aphrodite to keep you young and beautiful.
Your son, peaceful Telemachus, has grown and is now 12. He yearns to be tall, strong, and witty just as you are. He prays to the gods' everyday, to make him a great warrior, with a sharp mind and alluring face. He will be tall and a sleek runner all of this to be greater than you. Dear husband do not think this is all in vanity, he does this to make you proud just as you did for the old king Laertes. Your family only produces great, strong men and Telemachus does not wish to be the downfall of your great line.
Your victories in battle impress Telemachus. Mentor recounts many tales. He loves you as much as I do and yet he has never truly met you. His devotion to making himself a man is joyous. And he looks like you so. His hair is dark as mine but it curls beautifully as yours does. Telemachus' eyes are bright, it as though the deathless gods look through them. He is tall but not lithe with broad shoulders and strong legs. You would be proud to have such a son, Telemachus.
His appearance is impressive, yes, but his emotional strength lacks. For now his heart is soft, soft as the lapping waves against the satin sand of Phaeacia. Those joyous and hospitable people loved by Poseidon, the sea god. Where the nymphs, Eidothea and Perse bathe, great dancers with wild feet prance on the soft grass ready for the fat cattle to eat. They are master ship makers and seamen, brothers of the ocean. The beautiful maidens and gracious maidens reside.
I write you a letter you may never receive. So instead I write this, only to give it to the gods. To show my deepest devotion to you. I hope they give you a safe journey home, for they have always favored you. Please mighty thunder god, king of the sky, clear the clouds so that my husband may return to me. Poseidon, master of the sea, calm the ocean so that Odysseus may pass. Pallas Athena give him strength. Artemis and Apollo, give him the skill of hunt and bow. Last I ask the messenger god, Hermes, to be swift and carry my letter to the deathless beauties.
Love,
Penelope
I hope you liked. I would like some reviews to see if you liked it because i have another written thing from the book. It's a conversation between Penelope and Telemachus' caretaker, i cant remeber her name!
Till next time, loves.
