Leaf knew, it was Green's fault. Red wouldn't have closed himself off if he didn't push the boy away. Often, she'd try to pull her friend out of his misery, but none of her attempts worked. Red was a stubborn boy.

They all promised to take their first step out of the town together. Start their journey as a trio— but at this rate, it was nothing but a far-off dream. Leaf didn't want that to happen. She had to do something. She had to do something to snap Red out of it.

"Red, talk to me, please," she'd say every day, shouting from outside Red's window. Never did she receive a response. The boy didn't even peek out to check who it was.

The day they got their pokémon, Red showed no change and Leaf gave up. It didn't stop her boiling rage, though. At the entrance of Route 1, she stood in front of Green, her hand raised above her head.

The piercing sound of the slap echoed through the air. Leaf was sure the whole town could hear it. She didn't care.

"It's all your fault," she hissed.

The three of them were her world, and now they broke apart.
