Disclaimer:I don't own V for Vendetta.
A/N:Evey contimplates years after everyone has forgotten
"The only verdict is vengeance."
Those words still echo in my mind, even long after his death.
"But why?"
"For what they did to me. What was done to me was monstrous."
"And they created a monster."
I called him a monster; I thought that what he had done was monstrous. In truth it wasn't, not matter how long he had worn that mask, he was still a man.
"You wear a mask for so long, you forget who you were beneath it."
Gordon told me that, but it is not true. You can wear a mask forever, but you will never, ever lose the identity you hold beneath it.
What of my mask, Gordon? I wear it everyday, and I am still Evey Hammond. I will always be Evey Hammond.
"He was Edmond Dantés... and he was my father. And my mother... my brother... my friend. He was you... and me. He was all of us."
How completely correct and incorrect that statement turned out to be, V was not us, we were him. And now that we've stopped believing, V will disappear.
As will the rest of us.
