Like the Rain
(from Hiei to Kurama)
To compare you to a rose
would be agonizingly cliché
Describing you as a fox,
cruel in its oversimple redundancy.
And then it comes to me-
You are the rain.
It fits you perfectly.
Cold, unrelenting,
Splashing me with desperation
Drenching me in vulnerability
Drowning me
Like the tears I swore I'd never shed.
I hate what you do to me
And so
I seek shelter in myself.
Self-loathing and denial coarse blankets
Shielding me from the downpour that is your care.
Yet even now, shivering
In the frightful stormy truth of it all
I cannot help finding comfort in the soft
Gently falling murmur of your words.
Thunder crashes,
"I love you",
And your flood has swept me away.
