I'm posting all the pieces I wrote awhile back and this is one of them. If there's a reasonable interest in this, then I'll expand it into a full story.
"I love you, Senpai."
"Mai."
She smiled, "But you love Yuka-nee, so because I love you, all I want is for you to be happy and being with Yuka-nee does that." His eyes widened and she took hold of his hand and placed her mauve alice stone in it. "Please, keep my alice stone with you. It doesn't have to mean anything, but it'll let me know that you're at least safe and it will act as a good luck charm..."
"I..."
She kissed him and then pulled back, forcing a brave smile for him. "I'll take care of things in here, so when you find Yuka-nee, tell her that."
"Mai..." he whispered.
"Go and be with Yuka-nee, Senpai. Go and be with the woman you love, because she needs someone. I will fulfil Sensei and Yuka-nee's desires here. I swear it, to the both of them and I owe it to them for what they've done for me."
"But what about your future?"
She laughed a little. "I would have wanted my future to be with you, but I understand Sensei's and Yuka-nee's thoughts. To protect the students, so that they don't have to go through what we went through. To do our best to make their lives here, better. But to do that, sacrifices must be made, right? I can afford to make that sacrifice, for the sake of the students."
"Gomen, Mai."
He was sorry. Truly sorry for hurting her.
"There's nothing that you need to be sorry for, Senpai. I fell in love with you, just like you fell in love with Yuka-nee and she fell for Sensei. It's all on me. It can't be helped. Falling in love, cannot be stopped. So, go now, Masachika-senpai. Please, before I hold you back. Before I can't let you go anymore," she pleaded, tears rolling down her cheeks and he cupped her cheek, kissing her before taking her hand in his and formed an alice stone.
"May this protect you, Mai. If I could choose... I think that I would choose to love you, because then, I wouldn't have to hurt you."
"Like I said. We can't choose who we love. Things would be so much easier if we could, but this is life. I... wish you all the best and I hope that we never meet again. I don't want you or Yuka-nee to ever come back here, because you'll be trapped in this school again. Senpai and Yuka-nee, now have a choice in life... For the two people I love, to choose their path and leave the academy, I'm already very happy!"
He knew she was holding back, but he was selfish. He was hurting her so he could go and be with Yuka. He was holding his feelings above hers... and she would never blame him. He had a choice, but now, Mai had none. He was horrible. He was leaving the woman who loved him, for one who couldn't. He was selfish, but he couldn't help it.
"Goodbye, Mai."
"Goodbye, Masachika-senpai... forever."
It's really short, but please review!
