Just a little something that came to mind- I hope you like it!

*I don't own spn*

*Long, long ago*

"What were you thinking?!" Lucifer stormed into the hall, lights shattering and walls quaking at his arrival. He brandished his angel blade at the cowering figure in the corner, and waved it furiously.

Gold wings wrapped tight around his body, Gabriel poked his head up, and Lucifer saw tear tracks on his little brother's face. All the elder brother's rage dissipated. He sheathed his blade, and sat next to his brother.

"Talk to me, little brother."

Gabriel whimpered. "He-he told me to. Said I had to…."

Lucifer sighed. "Who, Gabriel? What are you talking about?"

An angry look flicked across Gabriel's face. "Raphael. He said if I didn't take it, I shouldn't even be an archangel."

A low growl emitted from Lucifer's throat. "I'm going to kill him."

"No," Gabriel looked frantic all of a sudden. "No, don't kill anyone, Lucifer! I-I should have known better. I should have known not to try an' take Michael's blade, but-but-"

"Relax," Lucifer cut him off. "I'm not killing anybody. I swear it." The tension released from Gabriel's body, and Lucifer looked down at his little brother. "But Gabriel, if you knew not to, why did you try to steal that blade?"

Gabriel looked up, eyes wide. "You don't get it. He made me, Luci. He made me."

Smirking, Lucifer shook his head. "No one makes us do anything, little brother."

*Just a little bit less long ago*

There was chaos, unlike ever before. Thunder, lightning, wind, and hail came together in an enormous symphony, and Gabriel could feel his family-his world- shattering.

"Lucifer!" He reached out to his big brother, his hero, in one last desperate attempt. "Please, don't do this. We can make things right again, I'll help you; I promise. Just- let me fix this."

The elder angel turned slowly, eyes locked on Gabriel, angel blade in hand, drenched red with blood. And in those orbs, Gabriel saw the shadow of the brother he had once loved. "You can't make me, Gabriel. Remember?"

And nothing in Gabriel's life was ever the same.

*Just before the apocalypse didn't happen*

The cold steel bit into his palm as Lucifer clenched his blade with white-knuckled fingers. "Brother, please, don't make me do this."

A million emotions and memories flickered in Gabriel's eyes. A smile ghosted across the younger brother's face, recalling a time of the past. For a moment, it was just him and his brother, and nothing else mattered. And Gabriel tried-just as he had tried so long ago- to bring his brother back.

"No one makes us do anything."

Loved it? Hated it? Couldn't care less? Let me know! Constructive criticism is always welcome!
