PRINCESS'S CHOICE

I have no justice league, but this is kind of obvious. This one I made thinking about the episode "The Savage Time", from the animated series of JL, in which they travel in time and stop in World War II.

It's short, but I thought it was cool.

I wrote this some time ago in portuguese, and now I'm risking writing this in English.

Again, english it's not my mother tongue, so sorry for any erros.

Enjoy it!

The Nazi planes receded. Savage's plan went awry and the six heroes could return home. However, despite the victory, there was something bothering Diana, the Wonder Woman. Or rather someone. She didn't want to leave without saying goodbye to Steven, in fact, she didn't even want to leave him. Diana knew she had a life and a place as a hero in her world, and there was still Batman. She felt a great affection for him, but still ...

"I'll stay." She said loudly.

Immediately, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and J'onn paused and stared at the Amazon.

"I don't think I understand what you just said." Flash said. "You want to stay? On here?"

Diana shook her head.

"The war isn't over yet, and maybe they need help."

"But we won the war."

"I know I have a house in another era, however, I feel that if I leave, part of me will stay here."

"It's a serious decision." It was Superman. "Are you sure you will not regret it?"

"I do."

Her heart had long since decided. She then said goodbye to her friends, knowing it would be the last time they would see each other. They then followed opposite paths. The five heroes returned home, and Diana went to look for Steve.

The portal took the heroes to the WatchTower, and they soon heard Batman's voice.

"I knew you were involved." It didn't take long for him to miss Wonder Woman. "Where's Diana?"

The friends looked at each other, and Superman approached Batman and put a hand on his shoulder. He handed him an envelope with only his name on it.

"It's a long story." He said. "Diana asked to give you this."

"Dear Batman,

I know we were never formally presented with our names, and I never saw his face behind this mask, but my feelings were true. However, while I was in the past, I met a man named Steve Trevor and he stole my heart like I never imagined possible. I love you, and you would be denying me if you said the other way around. So I decided to stay in the past next to him. I don't know what my life will be like, but I'm sure it's the beginning of something new for me. I hope you understand.

I'll miss you, Diana. "

Behind the mask, Batman felt a tear trickle down. They were separated by 60 years, a real life. At least he hoped she was happy.

It took a day for the world's greatest detective to find out everything about Steve Trevor's life. He was a widower, who lived in an asylum. He and his wife, Diana Trevor, were married for over 50 years and had two daughters.

Batman had to smile. Diana had a happy life and maybe it was time to meet Trevor. It only took him 60 years to do so.

The nurse led him to a garden, giving him the recommendation to be brief, as his patient was already old. Steve looked at the masked man who sat next to him and smiled.

"Diana spoke a lot about you." His smile was then sad. "I miss her a lot."

Batman shook his head.

"I miss her too..."

As the afternoon wore on, the two men in Diana's life were talking, remembering their moments with the Amazon princess. Diana made her choices in a time that wasn't hers, but she was very happy. She had a lifetime as she wished. And both, Steve and Batman were grateful for that.

THE END…

What you think?

Let me know.

THANKS!
