~Prologue~

Jaylynn Garmadon was a miracle. When she was first born, she wasn't expected to live any longer than a few hours. After many tests and doctors appointments, it was shown that she was a perfectly healthy baby. She weighed 8.5 pounds, which was abnormal; women her mother's size usually had much smaller babies.

When she was born, her parents couldn't decide on a name. They had 28 listed, but chose Jaylynn. All the other 27 were now her middle names. Her full name isn't worth writing all down, but you will learn in time.

Now, the reader is probably asking them self "why are you telling me all this?" That, my dear reader, is actually a good question. This doesn't have much to do with the story... right now. This little girl, this miracle, was gonna change the world. She'd go through heartbreak, pain, distress, love, happiness, sorrow, and lots more. But in the end, she'd be a hero. This is her story.

~Chapter one~

New. Innocent. Pure. Unexposed to the world. So many words and phrases to describe a baby. The day Jaylynn Garmadon was born was most definitely the happiest day of her parents life. But, it was also the saddest. Misako and Garmadon already had a child ten years ago. They were now 28 and 30, and they had to raise a child from its day of birth to the day it would leave them. With their first child, they had the help of their parents and friends. Now, they had no one. They had to raise little Jaylynn all on their own. This was most certainly difficult for the both of them, but each in different ways.

Garmadon was unemployed and had evil coursing through his veins. The fear of becoming bankrupt and becoming fully corrupted by evil tore at his insides. The fear of his eldest or newest daughter, especially, following his steps of evil tore at him more than anything.

Misako's fears were somewhat similar. She feared her husband wouldn't be able to hold back the evil much longer. She also feared the shortage of money would leave them homeless. They already had to go to Garmadons sister, Ginneverenver, three times for money. They didn't want to beg for anything. It made them feel weak.

She also feared that something would come up and cause Jaylynn to die. They couldn't afford for that to happen. They'd be completely torn.

The two parents sat in their room, Misako cradling Jaylynn and Garmadon sitting beside them with their eldest on his lap.

"Daddy, what's its name?" Asked Nancy, the firstborn. "Jaylynn." Garmadon Replied with a sigh. "Oh... but mommy said you'd name her after me," Nancy looked back and forth from Garmadon to Misako, with the look of disapproval on her face. "why didn't you?" Misako laughed slightly. "Well, having two Nancy Garmadons would get confusing, would it not?" Misako smiled. "Well, I guess. It still would've been nice if you named her Nancy, though." She looked at her hands, which were folded across her lap. Garmadon and Misako laughed.

"Well, that's the thing; you're the only one," Garmadon leaned close to her and whispered, "that's why you're my favorite." Nancy gasped. "I am?! I'm your favorite?!" "Shh," Garmadon smiled. "Don't let Jaylynn hear; she'll be jealous." Nancy giggled. "Ok, daddy."

"Alright, Nance. It's bedtime." Misako stated. "Ok. Tuck me in?" Nancy asked. "Ok." Misako handed Jaylynn to Garmadon and left to tuck in Nancy.

Garmadon held Jaylynn close to him and sighed. "Hey, pipsqueak," he sighed sadly once more. "I'm happy to finally be able to hold you. This may never happen again. I wish I could give you the best life a girl could ask for... but I can't." He shed a tear and clutched Jaylynn closer to him.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up. "Garmadon, it's ok. She's here. She's a part of the family now and that won't change. Even if we become bankrupt and lose our home, we're blessed to have each other and the girls." Misako smiled weakly. "I agree. Let's just enjoy the limited time we have together and not think about what is to come." Garmadon suggested. "I second that," Misako took Jaylynn again and placed her in her crib. "Goodnight." The two went to bed.

-two years later-

"Jaylynn, get up!" Shouted Nancy. Jaylynn jolted up in her bed. "What do yo want, Nancy?" Jaylynn yawned. "Mom and dad want ya to get dressed." Nancy replied, turning on the bedroom light. Jaylynn squinted and rubbed her eyes, as the light was blinding her. "But I can't dwess mysewf." Jaylynn said. "Ugh, I'll help you. But we have to hurry." Nancy sloppily put a shirt onto Jaylynn and allowed her to get her skirt on. "There, now are you ready?" Nancy asked. Jaylynn nodded. Nancy grabbed Jaylynn's hand and dragged her out of the room.

"Good morning, Jaylynn." Greeted Misako. "Hewwo, Mommy." Jaylynn struggled to get into her chair. "Nancy, help your sister." Misako ordered. Nancy picked up Jaylynn and plopped her down on the chair.

Garmadon walked into the room, still brushing his teeth. "Mornin' Misako, Nance, and Jaylynn." He managed to say. Misako stood. "Mornin' Garmy." She got a comb and combed his hair as he brushed his teeth.

"Parents are weird. If I can give you one hint of advice for the future, it's to never become them." Nancy whispered to Jaylynn. Jaylynn looked at her confused. "Why?" She asked. She had no idea why Nancy would say a thing like that. She though her mother and father were perfectly normal. She was content with her parents and she looked up to them. Nancy, evidently, did not.

"B'cause. They're weird and I want you to live a normal life." Nancy replied. "Oh... but they seem nowmawl to meh..." Jaylynn whispered. "Well, they aren't," Nancy stated in a sassy tone. "And you can never turn out like they did. Understand?"

"But I~"

"UNDERSTAND?!"

"I... um... okay, Nancy." Jaylynn nodded feverishly. Nancy smiled. "Good." She skipped off to her room.

Jaylynn leaned back in her chair and sighed. "Jaylynn, we need to talk to you." Said Misako, sitting next to Jaylynn. "Ok, Mommy. What is it?" She asked. "Well, we have been thinking... you need to be more social~" Garmadon was interrupted by Jaylynn. "What does social mean?" She asked. "Well, it means that you need to spend more time with kids your age and bond with them." Garmadon said. "Bond?" Jaylynn looked at him confused. "Speak in a way a two-year-old would understand, Garmy." Misako sighed. "Sorry... well, bond means to become friends with someone." Garmadon stated. "Oh... so I need to bwe social and bond wif fwends That awe two wike meh?" Jaylynn asked. Both her parents nodded. "Oh. Go on." Jaylynn urged. "So, we decided to send you to a school..." Garmadon looked at Misako, as if asking her to finish. "A very good school, I hear. You'll make plenty of friends there, I'm sure." Misako smiled nervously. "What's da schoowl cawwed?" Jaylynn asked. "Erm-... Darkley's..." Garmadon nervously smiled. "Oh..."

"If we wanna get you enrolled we have to leave now." Misako said. "Wait, But~" "lets go!" They pushed her out the door.

A few hours later, they arrived. Jaylynn sat on her suitcase as her parents talked to the principal. She didn't know what they were talking about or why, but she did catch her name a few times.

"Jaylynn, be good. We'll see you in the summer." Garmadon and Misako left. Jaylynn sat there wondering what that meant.

"Hello, Jaylynn." said a voice. She turned around. "H-hewwo..." she nervously replied. "I'm the principal... I just have a few things to say before I let you go on your own. You WILL respect my authority, or you will be punished. And... you will not attend any classes, being as you're too young. No matter what they say, you will NOT attend any classes. Understood?" He asked. She didn't know what any of what he said meant, but she nodded anyway. He took her suitcase inside and left her on her own.

"Hey, pipsqueak!" Shouted a voice. She turned. There was a group of three boys standing by a tree. "Um... hi." She waved. "What's a girl doing at a school for bad boys?" one of the boys asked. "My pawents sent me hewe to socialize." Jaylynn said. "How old are you?" The last boy asked. "this many." Jaylynn held up two fingers. "Well THAT explains a lot..." the first boy rolled his eyes.

"Jayson, Greyson, Mayson, you're supposed to be in class!" Shouted a voice. "Looks like that's our cue to go... peace out, homie!" The three boys ran off. Peace out... Jaylynn didn't know what that meant, but she liked the sound of it. Maybe it'd be her new catchphrase. She sighed and skipped away to explore this new world.
